Dan Marino. I watched him beat my Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl on a last second bomb. A year later we drafted him as the 6th QB taken in the first round. Only time I have ever been truly excited about our draft pick.
OH man, I loved that pick. One of my most heartbreaking football moments reading what happened to him on the first or second day of camp. For me, there's only been 2.
Yatil Green was the first. ugh, what could have been.
Then of course, Tua

I had the same experience you had with the Louis Oliver and Sammie Smith picks. The ones I most reacted to with obvious jubilation were Louis Oliver (which was partly due to my opposite reaction about Sammie Smith), and Zach Thomas. I'd been begging Jimmy to pick him with every pick from the beginning of the 4th round on. So, as the names were announced, my anxiety just kept getting worse. Pointer, Pritchett, Jones (another LB, oh no was this the extent at the position?), McPhail, Burton, till finally at pick 154, there it was, flashing on the bottom of the screen: ZACH THOMAS, LB, TEXAS TECH. I was dancing around the living room like the Dolphins had just won the Super Bowl. When you want a certain player that much, and then to see it come true, that late, it feels like winning the lottery.
