Three – the number of times Henne found Brandon Marshall for a touchdown.

Two came in the Red Zone, the other from 29 yards out. The three touchdowns matched Marshall’s production for the entire 2010 season.

“Today is really the very first day we connected pretty well,” Henne said after the scrimmage. “We talked before practice, we communicated and we got it done today.”

That Henne and Marshall are communicating with each other and connecting in the Red Zone is good news for the Dolphins, who scored the third-fewest points in the NFL last season (17.1 per game).
Improving the Henne-Marshall connection is one of the Dolphins’ top priorities after the duo had a rough first season in 2010.

Marshall’s catch and yardage numbers were on par with his career stats – 86 catches for 1,014 yards in just 14 games – but his three touchdowns were his fewest since catching just two in 2006, his rookie season. From 2007-09, Marshall had 23 touchdown catches, and no fewer than six in a season.

“Brandon is only going to increase enthusiasm out there making plays,” Henne said.

i think henne is going to throw it up to marshall alot more this year. marshall is going to score alot more

Henne needs confidence that he can throw it up to Marshall when in doubt. He'll make a play more often than not.

i foresee more red zone interceptions trying to force balls into Marshall.

That may happen, but Henne should not be afraid to try. Mashall is one of the most physical WR in the league, he will win a jump ball battle most of the time, Henne has to trust Marshall will come down with it, or no one will. That does not only translate in the redzone, that goes for anywhere on the field.

The reason why there were not many endzone targets for Marshall in the red zone, Dan Henning would go to the wildcat whenver we reached the 10 yard line. I also remember Henning calling jump ball pass plays to Davone Bess in the redzone on a few occasions (WTF was that about!?!?!!!). The playcalling in the redzone was horrendous because we did not use Marshall appropriately in those situations.

This year, we have a new coordinator, our approach in the red zone will be much different. Continue to FEED THE BEAST!!!!

Well, that makes sense doesn't it? If Henne's gonna throw the ball to Marshall more in the red zone then there's more opportunity for ints. But there's also more opportunities for Touchdowns as well. And that is REALLY the point, isn't it ... ? Besides, Marshall is one of the best recievers in the NFL, they don't call him the beast for nothing. And you know HE WANTS Henne to force it to him, at least he'll get a chance to fight for it.

And really, so what if in the red zone, Henne throws an Int for every TD. With our defense, I'll take it.

Who do you want at quarterback, a guy with the confidence to put the ball up to one the best revceievers in the NFL? Or, the return of Check-down Chad from last year? You can't have it both ways.
