feeley frerotte battle

I am pulling for whoever gives us the best chance to win. Period. I know it is an old coached cliche but i have no loyalty to either so whoever is better is fine with me. We have good weapons and a great O-coordinator so whoever is out there should have a chance to be very successful. Surprising Frerotte has thrown more picks than Feeley and it seems Feeley has one speed on all of his throws.

What worries me about AJ is that he continues locking on receivers and showing no touch. QBs who do that get eaten up by defenses. People seem to think that those are easy fixes. They aren't. It's not just a matter of learning the offense.

Yeah but Feeley's been improving in both those areas for the last two practices from the reports. He's still locking on but not as much and he had some nice touch passes Tuesday and Wednesday. He's getting better this training camp under Saban unlike last year under Wanny. Let's hope it continues

Not trying to start a new debate but I haven't heard ANY report that has stated Feeley has gotten better about NOT locking on a reciever. TO the contrary, I have heard that he continues to do it. ANd he also lacks touch on mid to short range passes.

Feeley - Had some awesome throws today. Was putting it over the DBs and away or under the safteys. Deep ball was clean and on target. Wasnt pushing it. He still sometimes locks onto a receiver. Also had a couple missed passes to guys that are short. Throws too hard and needs to work on touch with his shorter passes... But the deep ball was beautiful.

QB A.J. Feeley put some nice touch on several passes during the late workout, one of which was good for a 35-yard completion to WR Derrius Thompson.

These are both from thursday practices

How old is Frerotte? He had one decent year at Washington when he threw a whopping 17td's. He was benched in favor of Jeff George. Is it so hard for people to see how much progress A.J. had over the 2nd half of the season, or were you on our offensive line last year laying on your fat a$$ evrytime he dropped back to throw the ball. What kind of long term stability would we have by handing the team over to Frerotte. Maybe there is a reason he has been a career backup!!!

Plus he's on the downside of his career. A.J.'s been improving from the last five games of last year all the way through this camp. If he keeps on improving he'll be starting come week 1 and never look back

At the other receiver?

I'm just wondering who will get the nod to start Monday. I think it should be AJ cause he hasn't lost the job yet and it was his at the end of last year.

I believe Saban was quoted as saying that Gus would start Mondays game and Feeley would start the 2nd preseason game.

you mean todays practice, which was cancelled? you mean Wednesday. those were also from a fan's report, an admitted Feeley supporter.

You're a Feeley supporter too, thats fine, but you are trying to sugarcoat it too much. I know he hasn't done any recently, but Ozzy's were by far the most fair and unbiased, just as they have been for years.

Every single one of Bedard's blogs mention that he still hasn't learned to not "lock on" (he even mentioned it in his Wed blog), this is his 5th year, he shouldn't still be doing it.

Thats the difference between AJ and Gus, and thats a big difference. That could be a pick or a TD. The reports are saying that Gus has shown that he is throwing exactly where he should be, because he knows where the receivers will be. Honestly, if the game is on the line, thats the kind of QB that I want out there.

If the fans opinion wasn't good enough for you, some of those web blogs by professional writers are starting to mention improvement.

and you know this how? have you seen him in person? How do you know he hasn't found the perfect system ala Gannon, where he can still flourish at this point? How do you know that AJ hasn't peaked, and on the downside of his career?

Simple......you dont......so why dont you wait till you can actually see both of them in a game situation against guys who are actually trying to sack them, rather then run at them with their arms up

So many people complain about his age, yet dont complain about Zach, or Seau's, etc......Gus has nowhere near the wear and tear on his body that somebody like Trent Green or Bledsoe has

I meant Wednesday's practice. The reports came out Thursday. As for Feeley he is clearly improving. You are clearly a Frerotte Supporter, that's fine too. If you want to only go with Ozzy's opinion that's fine too. I'm basing my opinions on everybodys' reports. OZZY, NASTY, DOLPHIN2005, PALMBEACHPOST, MIAMIHERALD and whoever else Ive read over the last week. Nasty who has been at if not every just about every practice says Feeley is improving. Hey OZZY, if you read this tell us your opinion. Is Feeley improving from day to day.

As for Frerotte what Im reading about him is he's throwing the kind of picks Feeley threw last year. Feeley has cut down immensely on throwing picks. He's locking onto his receivers LESS meaning he's still doing it just not as much which is the point that he's improving. Frerotte has thrown way more picks than Feeley from the reports. I'm guessing a 2-1 ratio. That's what kills you in a game. So if you want the QB who turns it over less, as of Aug 4 go with Feeley. Perhaps it will change as the preseason progresses. Who knows

One thing is that at least Monday we will all be able to comment on having seen both in actual live action even though it is only a preseason game. Right now most of us are dependent on reports from Finfans kind enough to take the time to write their observations.

At least its a REAL QB battle this year. Unlike the Circus of last year.
