Feeley may have to rework contract

He should rework his contract that forfeits $100,000 for each INT that he throws and gets returned for 6. :D

And $100,000 bonus for every TD he throws, as a incentive.

It's obvious that we don't have good QB evaluators on this board, Feeleys at a point that most good QB's take off, I think we have a player in him.

I agree, I think Feeley will suprise a lot of people this year, just like Brees with SD in 2004. He showed progress and has the potential, IMO, to be a pro bowl QB.

If Saban goes QB...., wouldn't Saban demand that Feeley re-work his contract...? What other choice does Feeley have...? If he is cut (BIG IF) he won't get many $ any where else..., maybe Cleveland...?
Feeley will have to redo his deal once reality sets in that he is not our starter. His only chance t5o keep his deal is if we do not draft a QB and Saban see's enough in him to say he's a future starter. But Gus will beat him out this year and so will Alex Smith if we draft him IMO.

Come on man. Don't take yourself so seriously. We're just poking fun.

BUT, I don't agree that Feeley is about to take off.

I love the self proclaimed qb experts on thsi board. You sitting by the phone waiting for Nicks call to come be part of teh fins staff to evaluate qbs? LOL hopefully you have wads of cash while you wait.

The reason I am excited to see AJ play this year is that I really feel that he only had half a year to develop last season. I truely believe that Pornstache set him up to fail so that Fudler could come in, be the hero, and Davey Boy would get GM powers back. Dave has said that he didnt like the guy, and AJ has said that he didnt like Dave. There was no love loss between these two, but once Bates took over he played better. Plus he had no running game at all, this year that should change.

That's a great idea. I saw where we might need to re-work
Zack or JT's contract to keep Surtain.
Well, those two don't suck, and Feelme does.
Offer him the minimum and see how many teams rush
to pick him up if he doesn't like it.
Better yet, cut him after we draft a QB.

Exactly!!!! It is crazy to pay a 3rd stringer starting money just b/c the last regime thought he could be a starter in this league. If he wants to stay around and prove last year was just bad luck, then do it for league minium. There is surely no other team who would pay more for him. For what he is making I would rather keep Sage and start Gus and hope we get a 2nd or 3rd round QB to come in later in the year.

AJ is the best QB on our roster right now, Gus is an old backup which is worse than a young 3rd stringer. Gus has already been a starter in the league and had been demoted to a backup, Feeley was a 3rd stringer and now is a starter, he won his last 2 games and didn't throw one pick in either of them. Give the guy some credit, our running game certainly didn't light things up last year, so all the pressure fell on a young inexperienced QB, behind a line that made 3 step drops hard to get off, before he was on his back. Our defense couldn't stop anybody from running up the gut on them, our defense was pathetic last year against the run, sure we were good against the pass, but most teams didn't even bother to pass on us, why bother when you can just run up the gut up & down the field at will, teams didn't score alot points against us cause they didn't have too. No running game, no pass protection, no scoring. Our O-line & D-line were probably both near the bottom of barrel last year. Between losing Bowens & Chester to injuries, a whole new O-line and man both units stunk it up pretty much all year long.

Yeh..

I wonder how many people were ready to cut him last year when he led us to our Monday night victory over the Pats??

First off, it was a team game. Wes Welker had a great return that set up a 2 yard score. Our D had pressure on Brady, and 4 picks. AJ Feeley threw 2 passes in the Arms of the Pats that were dropped, including one in the fourth quarter, I believe Wilson or Samuel. A Prayer fade on Fourth Down, hated the play call, but to a 6'3 receiver on a 5'11 QB. If you see in the replay, it was a prayer to the end zone, it wasn't where Feeley actually worked, he through it up, his receiver made a big time play. To say Feeley won that game is a bold statement. To say he contributed, yes, but won, no. When you are down by 2 scores, in the fourth quarter, and your QB goes 9/11 with 2 TD's, that would be considered winning a game. Or, how about Jay Fielder against the Raiders at home a few years ago, that is called winning the game, when you fight your way into the endzone.

I am not a big Feeley supporter, "i figure he did something special that monday night" maybe we should keep him around at a decent price...? We bang away at Fiedler but he put them in many positions to win esp. vs the Pats over the past three years and it was the "D" who folded.

Come to think of it..., our receiver crews the past few years (since Mcduffie) haven't been too professional either...

It's a team game and the team has to be held accountable. I don't know how many INTs Marino has on his stats that were not his fault. The passes were like lasers landed them in the bread-basket. Dan didn't always have the soft touch... Combination of fault. The WR was often at fault sometimes the receiver. Feeley is at fault but so is the offensive team. Now it's time to rise above fault finding.

The team needs leaders...

You draft the best leader not necessarily the most gifted athlete.

U mean the game that Brady handed to us on a silver platter?

It is a team game and no one looks good with out the help of the other members of the team, no one player can do anything on his own, he can only make the players around him better, if he is a good team player. We need to get players who want to win, not me guys who only want there stats to look good. I don't know if AJ is the guy, but until the others hold up there end of the bargain, we won't know, we need the whole offensive unit to player better than did last year, poor o-line play, poor qb play, poor rb play and poor wr play, is what we had last year, most of these is probably due to new qb, new wr, new o-line, new rb. there was no continuity with the offensive unit you can't replace all the parts at once and expect things to go smoothly. This year they should all be on the same page and should be a lot better output.
