Feeley Should Start

Again, anybody that wants to evaluate Feeley based on the team that we had last year is just ignorant.

I agree, BUT! Some of his throws were directly to the other team with nobody else around. Giving you the "WTF was he thinking" approach. And we saw that again vs Jax a week ago, thinking he hasn't changed much over last year.

To me, and to be honest, GUS and AJ both SUCK. But in the 3 preseason games we haven't seen Gus make that game ending mistake.

I think it sticks in people craw (or is it crawl?...anyway) that we traded a 2nd round pick for AJ. And some just want to play him to justify giving up that pick. We need to move beyond that. If AJ is the best player, then play him. But don't play him because we gave up a 2nd round pick for him.

my opinion: we have the same O-line as last year, same WRs, improved running game. The o-line coach and head coach was upgraded, but we haven't seen that translate to much on the field as of yet.

I am with you in general - i am for Feeley starting.

what i am NOT with you on - is people realizing that Feeley isn't the answer when the time comes. I think people cherish Feeley because he is the anti-fiedler. Not because of what he can do.

Feeley played worse last year than Fiedler, with the same crappy team and all. yet, at the end of the season, did the fans crack on Feeley? no, they made excuses for him. I cannot remember any excuses being made for Fiedler, even after the 2000 and 2001 seasons when he took us to the playoffs. In fact, everyone was saying we made it to the playoffs in SPITE of Fiedler.

i want to set it straight that i don't think we need fiedler, i am just mad that there is so much bias here and no consistency. Fiedler was a scapegoat, and now Feeley garners every excuse for his play out of you guys.

Like you said though, i think Feeley should start so we can see how he works in the new system. Even if Gus "worked", he's old... how many more years would he work in this system? Feeley (if he improves), could at least give us more years. But right now both are playing like crap. NOBODY here has any room to talk about who is better than whom.

A top 5 QB is going to be a HUGE!!! investment, if there are any unanswered questions about AJ, how can you commit that much money?
The people who keep slamming you for advocating to start Feeley haven't given that any thought, IMO. I believe if we draft a top 5 QB we end up taking on the look of the Colts. We end up with no talent on defense and enough offense to get us into the playoffs. However with no defense we go nowhere in the playoffs. Familiar song to long time Dolphin fans.
I have to agree with you we need to know for sure if Feeley can be our QB.

I don't see anything wrong with it and I agree it can't hurt to let Feeley start because I think this season is a wash anyway. Might as well see if Feeley can stay injury free and progress through a whole season.

He WON'T though.

AJ threw one pass which was a simple overthrow. It wasn't like last year where he threw the ball straight to a defender who was already running towards the endzone. And I seem to remember the fact that he progressed nicely during his last few games, going a large number of attempts without throwing a pick. Frerotte threw several passes that could have been picked as well last week, the defenders just didn't make a play on it. The way Gus is throwing now, he is going to throw many more pics than AJ will.

It's almost senseless to think gus is all of a sudden going to be anything other than what he's been his whole career. 12 years is a pretty good barometer of a player. Old dogs that learn new tricks are few and far between and gus is one old dog that's a couple of years away from being euthanized.

The Dolphins would simply be wasting any benefit we can get from this season by letting gus crash the bus.

classic way of putting it;)

Pitt has the BEST DEFENSE IN THE NFL....not only did gus suffer from WR drops but he was doing this against I repeat.....THE BEST DEFENSE IN THE NFL.

I agree with that. Pittsburgh looks amazing two games into preseason. They have now embarrassed Miami and Philly with their D and special teams. I personally think that our starters looked decent last night, other than the total lack of concentration and that dreaded slippery ball (both teams look poor on offense).

I personally hope that Gus gets the call, but it is quite clear that with our occasional total breakdowns on the o-line both QB's will be playing this year at some point.

Preseason is preseason. Coaches make choices. Be a fan, cheer for your team, and always look forward to the next game.

actually it would accomplish a lot... it would cement the fact that we threw away a 2nd round pick.

Yeah i see what your saying but it's already cemented in from my point of view.
Cemented, dried and painted over in Eagles colors.

Fiedler was making the same horrible mistakes AJ was, and he was supposed to be the veteran! AJ at least had inexperience to blame. Fiedler threw his share of pics and lost several games singlehandedly because of his poor play. Did you even watch the Jets game? Hahahahahahah. Fiedler one won, nearly two games as a starter, and how many points was the offense averaging with him in there? It was in the low teens, while AJ averaged over 20 in his late season starts.

this is apples to oranges now, because its the next year - but at the end of the year the team started to stand up under Bates. I am convinced that if Fiedler would have been in there, it would have been the same result as Feeley.

Again, not saying Fiedler was the answer. I'm just saying Feeley never did anything to prove himself over Fiedler. Age was the only plus. Any mistake Feeley ever makes, people blame inexperience.

when will it end??
