I am with you in general - i am for Feeley starting.
what i am NOT with you on - is people realizing that Feeley isn't the answer when the time comes. I think people cherish Feeley because he is the anti-fiedler. Not because of what he can do.
Feeley played worse last year than Fiedler, with the same crappy team and all. yet, at the end of the season, did the fans crack on Feeley? no, they made excuses for him. I cannot remember any excuses being made for Fiedler, even after the 2000 and 2001 seasons when he took us to the playoffs. In fact, everyone was saying we made it to the playoffs in SPITE of Fiedler.
i want to set it straight that i don't think we need fiedler, i am just mad that there is so much bias here and no consistency. Fiedler was a scapegoat, and now Feeley garners every excuse for his play out of you guys.
Like you said though, i think Feeley should start so we can see how he works in the new system. Even if Gus "worked", he's old... how many more years would he work in this system? Feeley (if he improves), could at least give us more years. But right now both are playing like crap. NOBODY here has any room to talk about who is better than whom.
I think the reason people are for Feeley is simply they prefered him to Fiedler last year and Gus this year. If he was competing against Charlie frye or Eli Manning or Alex Smith I doubt there would be anyone wanting him to be the starter. But it's Gus that he's competing against a guy who was given the starting job in his career only to have it taken away for the past 8 yrs. Feeley has gotten better from last year albeit incrimentally. Give him the starting job. He's outplayed the competition and there's noone who's a better option
