Feeley Should Start

I think he slipped back some but it appears that it's still his job to lose. Which may happen before the season starts if he doesn't pull his head out of his azz.
 
Well, Saban made clear in last week's conference that he was considering only two QBs for the starting position. He chose to go with Gus and was clearly hoping that Gus justified his pick. With his last press conference its clear that Gus hasnt done that. Now granted, the offensive line argument he used might be what he needs to hand the job to Gus this week but the fact that he didnt just announce that today leads me to believe he is seriously considering giving it back to Feeley. And I believe the more time he takes considering it the better it is for Feeley. Its not fact just my opinion but it will be interesting to see what Saban does here. time is running out and the final decision needs to be made shortly

Gus Frerotte I think should be the starter...Feeley had an opportunity last year and flopped, though he did show some very good toughness taking hit after hit and still coming back, their is a reason why we got Gus. Gus isn't anything special, but last night he couldn't control the drops that our WR's had...I'd be more confident with Gus starting than Feeley...Just my opinion.

I wish Coach Saban were as good a talent evaluator as you are. We would have this debate done by now.

With both #1 and #2 option struggling, why would we take time away from the first team for both of them by playing Brock? Both our possible starters need as much time with the first team as posible.
 
I go some of the way with you Infins...

Saban's on honeymoon this year with low expectations, starting Feeley is a no brainer if you know you aren't going to the playoffs anyway.

But the fact that our line sucked last year has got to stop being an excuse. This years line is going to suck for a while too. Maybe all year. The line is what it is and at least AJ has spent some time dealing with that last season and is battle hardened dealing with it. He came on pretty well in the last few games.

We said he should be in there for the remainder of the year to see what he's got. He proved worth a further look. At the end of the season we know something more substantial will have to be done about the Qb situation. Either way. But he needs to start showing he can build on what he learned last year - rather than that he has regressed into the same situation he was when he battled with Fiedler.

In the end tho, whatever Saban chooses is best for this franchise because he will build a winning team here. AJ may or may not be here when that happens. If he can't break the starting lineup this season then the chances are he wont.

I understand your point and agree with you, and maybe thats how this will all play out.

however, if AJ doesn't win the job in the coaches eyes doesn't that answer most of those questions?

He's 28 years old, supposed to be in his prime, if he doesn't convince the coaches he is a better option than journeyman Frerotte, what more is there to know?

Feeley would throw way more INT's than gus and you can take that to the bank. Feeley with his dink and dunk would never win a ball game and as soon as he goes down field, you hold your collective breath. I still say Gus is the QB and Feeley stays on the sideline and learns to not lock onto recievers and throw the ball away when there is nothing. He still cannot do that although i did see once last night when he did.

wou;dn't win a football game with Dink and Dunk? what do you think the West Coast O is? What do you think Brady did the whole year? Sure he threw it long every once in a while, but for the most part, Dink and dunk. How did we lose all those games to the jets in a row? they never threw long at us, they dink and dunked it against our nickel corner and LBers all day long. No, its obvious that you are not using logic, and I am sure that it is just more of the feeley hate showing through.

well, at least according to the frontpage(finheaven) our line still sucks, so actually, it could still be used as an excuse...;)

gus looks as bad, if not worse, than any QB that has come through here in the last 5 years. We're not going to the play-offs with gus as our QB. There are no if's, ands, or buts about it. If gus survives the whole season as a starter without getting injured, we'll be drafting in the top 10 and we won't know jack-**** about Feeley.

Let Feeley be the starter, learn the system by playing in it, and if he survives the whole year without getting injured we're either going to be exactly where we'd be with gus, except that we'll KNOW what Feeley is as a QB,

......or we're going to watch Feeley get better and better throughout the season.

With Feeley as the starter it's a win win even if we lose lose.

Start gus and it's a lose lose and more lose.

I truly believe that Saban has no intention of keeping Feeley around, anyway. Even if he got the shot, I doubt he'll play well enough to earn the contract he'd be soon to get.

I say start the QB that gives us the best chance to win the most games this year! I can't say at this point that thats either Gus or Aj. The juries out on all of our QB's. I'd like to see any of them step up and perform two weeks in a row. AND unless theres great improvement, during next offseason I'd probably trade the both of them and Ricky for a shot at a good QB!

Do we really want to risk the entire season on AJ?
