Because he has NO CHOICES. They are the only two and the best two QB choices we have. He has to go with them and do what it takes to keep to fairly equal guys motivated. Clearly he thinks GUS is better but knows AJ will be the game at some point. Further there are no other QB's to get right now that would help RIGHT NOW. Next year will be different.

I understand that Saban did not have many, if any, options to upgrade at QB. But if Feeley "Sucks" and he winds up the starter, what does that say about Gus Sage and Brock. Is there something lower than "suck"? If there is, I'm sure the mindless trolls on these boards will find it.

I don't think it is "clear" that Saban thinks Gus is better, or he would have announced a starter already.

This is the dumbest poll I have ever seen on any website ever. And that's saying something. So option 1 is that AJ is better than Gus, Option 2 is....???? I'm not really sure, but I think this would be where you would vote if you wanted Gus to start, and option 3 is just a more derogatory version of number 1. Good job, we were needing another "which qb to start" thread.

There is no such thing as a dumb poll. That would be redundant.

It is based on the premise that Feeley starts. Not a "which QB to start" thread. Why am I explaining this to the one guy who doesn't get it?

No i disagree again, If Saban thinks AJ sucks he does not just say so. Ever try to get the most out of someone that knows you don't like them. The situations just is.....what it is.....and we all know what it is.....Saban is coaching a team that has needed a QB since 1998.

Saban does have final say on personnel, does he not? He could cut him.
If Saban thinks AJ "sucks" then Saban is an idiot for having "QB1 Feeley/Frerotte" on the depth chart.

Why is it so hard for you people?
Saban is not an idiot, therefore Feeley does not "suck"

If he "sucked", Saban would have the wisdom and power to cut him.
But he still has him competing for the starting job, meaning that Saban sees more in Feeley than all the Feeley bashers want to believe. Since he's the coach, and the rest of you are....well, not. I'll put my faith in him.

Perhaps he sucks and Saban knows this, yet there is no other QB on the roster who sucks more. That would also mean Saban isn't an idiot, but his hands are tied based on his available options. There are more ways to look at it than just the 2 scenarios you described.

If the conclusion is that all our QB's "suck" fine, if that is your opinion. I'm not sure because you say "no other QB on the roster who sucks more." Did you mean less?
If all our QB's "suck", then the criticism should be directed at Saban. He has final say on personnel. His options were limited, this I absolutely agree with. But he is responsible, nonetheless.

Bledsoe, Warner, trade for another promising back up, draft a QB, like Orton, Campbell or Rodgers. I don't know that any of these options would have ultimately made us any happier than we are right now. But, if our QB situation continues to "suck" over the next few years, then there will be a ton of criticism laid on Saban for not moving up to #1 this year when the QB situation "sucked". Or, for not drafting whichever other QB from the draft turns into the next Tom Brady.

If AJ "sucks" then all our QB's "suck", and therefore Saban is an idiot for not addressing the most important position on the field. But I'm an optimist.
AJ Feeley is the next Delhomme, or Gus is the next Rich Gannon, or Sage is the next Tom Brady, or Brock is the next Brett Favre.
I'm an optimist.

None of the above...what it proves is that Gus couldn't provide the spark that Saban wants and AJ has more upside than Gus, therefore he is looking to the future...
