Feeling around league is that Pouncey will be suspended 1-4 games

Its never about the crime, its the cover up that ends up getting you.....

Pouncey could be in the biggest trouble if, as Wells believes, he did mislead NFL-affiliated investigators.

Beginning on page 12 of Wells’ 144-page report, he first says that he didn’t find Pouncey’s claims of ignorance regarding the abuse not “credible.”

Most specifically, Wells called into question Pouncey’s truthfulness about long-running insults directed at Martin’s sister. Pouncey told investigators that he never heard jokes among offensive linemen about having sex with Martin’s sister, and “if someone said that to me I would punch them in the mouth.”

Unbeknownst to him, presumably, Wells had in his possession a text message conversation in which Pouncey said he “would pay” for relations with his sister. Martin was part of the conversation.

Why this is important: the penalties resulting in the Saints’ bounty scandal were increased because the league believed key witnesses lied to them.

It’s unclear if the NFL will view Pouncey’s apparent trouble with the truth in the same light, however. While the NFL paid for Wells’ report, it was at the Dolphins’ behest. And so, one could make the argument that he was misleading his own team (which likely would have its own issues with it).

I think it's safe to assume just about everybody fibbed to Well's. Are they really going to suspend him for not being truthful about jokes?

I don't see how Pouncey can be punished by suspension. If you suspend him, then you also have to suspend John Jerry and Jonathan Martin for the things they did and said. If Pouncey gets suspended, then the NFL is setting a huge precedent for behaviors that they can suspend players for, and that is a fringe behavior that cannot be uniformly policed by the NFL imo. We have to keep in mind that a lot of this stuff happened away from the team, and it wasn't illegal.

I think the NFL should just set some parameters for conduct, establish a protocol or hotline to report this behavior anonymously, and then call it a day and move on. Its probably also worth adding a class on conduct and respect during the rookie symposiums.

I agree, but unfortunately I think the league will come down hard on these guys, my guess is Richie suspended 1 yr and must get help for his drinking problem, Jerry fined and suspended 8 weeks, which means no team will sign him his career is over, Pouncey 4 games, fined and must enter the drug program...Martin won't be suspended he will get some hellp for his mental issues and try to hook on with another team....and then the league will have no hazing rule and look to make an example out of someone to show all the outsiders they are serious.....

No I think just the guilty parties lied, Pouncey, Jerry, Richie and Turner.......they all will be made examples of...Goodell lives for this ****, he makes his 40 million a yr and needs to flex his muscle....tough job to be the bitch of 32 billionaires, payback time.....

If we could get a first round 2014 draft pick for pouncy id take it. His thug image is about to be exposed even more with the hernandez case. To clean the locker room up completely he has to go! He is young and a starter some team will make a move . We need to get a clean slate new head coach, off.linecoach which we have and o linemen that
haven't been abused like this group pathetic!! Now we no why they were so bad to busy joking around and not focusing on team . And coaches that were unaware of the problem !! Really ! I would let new gm get a coach with some discipline and personalty in here fast. This kinda stuff will re surface you cant turn your back on players that want to run your team. Oh i forgot ocho, marshall, dansby, long, burnett, bush didn't respect phlibin where are they now.

We better damn well fix the o-line regardless of what needs to be done. If we have to draft 4 o-linemen and sign 4 more in free agency then do it!!!

I look at it this way......Pouncey is one of the Dolphins best players...until there is REAL evidence to convict hm he is a big time cog on this team...and even if he is scapecoated in all this I will welcome Pouncey back after a BS suspension and we will move on.........................................................

Let me get this straight…Mike Pouncey loses game checks because he offended Jon Martin, even though Martin never told him to cut it out or went to his HC to discuss the matter, private text messages between himself in Incognito and the opinion of Ted Wells who's report just a day old has Andrew McDonald strongly refuting his claims.

Strip everything you know about the matter; Martin, texts, etc. The issue is simple enough to explain to a toddler, " Haydenn n n... You will not behave that way!"

Im not calling you a toddler. I refuse to let passion for common sense get the better of me (ya hear 123!? :} ) on this go around.

I placed you in the position of the toddler because Id like you to envision yourself as the toddler. The tone of mommy or daddy's voice, even without the full understanding of the verbiage, can be identified with "you are doing something you are not allowed to do." It truly is that basic. As simple as you do not and you will not behave that way.

If you want to add a smidgen of complication- "you will not conduct yourself in that manner on your work time, at our workplace, in this business of ours."

I dont believe any of the bullies should be crucified but they must be educationalized.

Listen, the mere fact that they were dumb enough to leave so much evidence behind makes them deserving. Have they never seen a mafia movie? Never write anything down. If you do, destroy every inch of it. If you will not have control of the document once it has been written down, dont write anything incriminating.

the alleged victim was involved and giving as good as he got.

Not one discussion I have heard from commentators, sports analyst, ex players, radio, etc has even considered this as a talking point. Not one.

Get out there. See and hear for yourself. Experience that you are way off base.

Have you read the report? I seem to ask that question and I dont get an answer on it with others. Those that dont answer, I believe did not read the report. I cant blame them. I put my ipad down at least 4 times crying, "Mercy! Does he have to repeat every freagin point he already explained (and when I declare "already explained" i mean literally it was a repetition of the same EXACT sentences word for word inserted again as if he copied and pasted). But I had to know so I staggered on.

Anyone who has read the report, any reasonable, unbiased party would never discern that which you assert in the grave misinterpretation quoted above.

In point of fact, it is so blatantly inaccurate that you are on the farthest end of the opposite side of this spectrum. It is precisely the inability to GIVE as good as he got that sees us in this predicament today. That is why I regurgitate posts that Martin carries as much blame if not the brunt of the blame for the matter at hand.

In fairness Buff, the point you make about Martin being involved is not inaccurate. I shouldve just quoted the give as good as he got portion. Martin was very involved even if the involvement can be interpreted merely as his lack of ability to bring the matter to an end.

And his involvement didnt stop there. He chose to go out, party, and continue to befriend these guys. Yes. Martin was very much involved.

Might have been told to stand down that this isn't a fight they want to take on as this will set new league rules and policies.

I hate you. You explained in one sentence what I couldnt get across to 123 in multiple longwinded posts.

Its as simple as your statement. Stand down. The situation is toxic for all parties involved.

Letting this all soak in over the past 24+ hours, I do think Pouncey will receive some sort of suspension, and I think the Miami Herald's league sources are right on the money. I think John Jerry will get a similar suspension that Pouncey gets.

Do they deserve to be suspended over this? Not really, but the NFL from a PR standpoint can't do nothing. Especially with them putting together new rules they need to have some sort of example of punishment. Jim Turner will probably be "relieved of his duties" and receive some sort of suspension himself. Phlbin has been cleared of any wrong doing, and I would be surprised if the league hands out a team fine or loss of draft picks. This will be all about new rules and making an example of a few players to scare the rest of the players in the NFL.

I agree with everything except they dont deserve suspensions.

Listen, there is a simple common sense here and it frightens me that some do not recognize basic functions of a human society. I mean, how do those people behave themselves on a daily basis- scary stuff.

Their behavior would not, could not be justified by any means of human rights in any environment. Good fences make good neighbors. The general courtesy we give our fellow man is what makes us a civil society. Their actions obliterate common courtesy, respect, and decency. Imagine if you will, an experimental society of cloned Pounceys, Jerrys, and Incognitos. Hypothesize away.

And everything I stated above can be damned to hell even though it should exist fundamentally in the hearts, minds, and laws of normal humans living in a civilized society. But it can be damned to hell for a very simple reason:

You cannot behave this way in your work place. The personal time actions doesnt even have to bear relevance (which it of course does).

Whats so hard to understand about that? You were caught redhanded acting a fool while you were "on the clock" at the place where you conduct business, in the very building of your employer. Theres your suspension.

What occurred in their personal time only strengthened Martin's accusation and said accusation led to an investigation gathering witnesses- plural- accounts confirming specific occasions, remarks, actions and even added to the matter additional victims of abuse.

Incognito himself has admitted, admitted that these extreme racial slurs occurred in the work place and he implicated Pouncey and Jerry as well.

Incognito's defense is that this is the environment of the locker room and the nature of teammate relationships. He has a very strong defense there. The entire locker room sided with Incognito. That speaks in volumes.

But that defense works in a private office within the confines of the Miami Dolphins organization. And it couldve been resolved with punishments for made-up offenses like constant tardiness or something to that effect wherein the issue is kept off of the record.

But, due to Martin, we are not in the confines of a private office. Incognito's defense will not convince a human being whom has never seen a locker room. And if you're listening to sports talk, folks, a lot of people who have seen locker rooms are admitting that this case was an extreme form of "normal locker room behavior."

Suspensions are justifiable. Case closed.

In the real world the company is responsible for all employee actions if ANY manager knew.

I long for your reality, brother because in mine, the company f@cks you in the a$$ and expects you to consider yourself fortunate that they used vaseline.

I ask again, what has Pouncey done that warrants a suspension?

Behaved with extreme inappropriateness in the work place.

I'll rephrase, he wast caught misbehaving with extreme inappropriateness in the work place.

I'll rephrase yet again, he wast caught misbehaving with extreme inappropriateness in the work place on a national stage.

Dont like it. Disagree with it. Go crazy. His actions justify disciplinary action in a form of suspension and theres no way to dismiss that rationale.

One can argue that he may not be deserving or be deserving (see reply to Nublar) but there is no debating whether his actions can justify sanctions. They clearly can.

Here is a defense for Pouncey of not deserving a suspension. All of this turmoil was brought about by a colleague who couldnt cope efficiently at work hence, he was not productive- clear basis for dismissal.

Against Pouncey: he got caught. It looks and sounds as atrocious as it humanly is. Punishment is not only warranted, its expected.

I wish I could thumb you more than once (with your permission of course). Im a gentleman.

Thank you for not being a lazy poster (i guilty as charged) and specifying instances where the report can explode ( awhere are you 123?) astronomically,

Another incident. What if the league wants to further investigate the details of Player A's sexual harassment? Since I know you didnt read it 123 and the lot of you, multiple interviews confirmed an event wherein the players held Player A (the player did not want to be named in the report) against his will and they fondled his a$$- a running joke (ran to obscene measures in slurs)that Player A is homosexual.

What if the homosexual community wants to protest in national unison against us?

What if the NAACP wants to take the issue of the racial slur regarding the N word that Incognito was throwing around and the NAACP wants to make an example of us?

The toxicity that this report has uncovered is far more frightening than a lot of you are giving it credence for.

I read, " No big deal. A fine. Maybe some suspensions. A draft pock. No big deal." The poster- did not read the report or is not intelligent enough to realize that associations like an NAACP could make us an agenda. And we have ALREADY lost public opinion. Can you imagine?

Jesus, please, just let it go away. A fine. Suspensions. A draft pick. Anything. Make it go away.
