Ferotte...is what he is

It appears to me that the starter has struggled more than the backup, no matter who the starter is. When Gus has started, AJ's looked decent, and when AJ's started, Gus has looked decent. Why? Because their's a huge difference between playing against a first team defense and a second and third team defense.

IMO, neither Gus nor AJ has distinguished himself as a starter for this team. Saban will likely choose Frerotte because of a comfort level. Their is something to a veteran who knows the system very well, as opposed to an inexperienced kid who's brand new to the system. I'm not saying Saban's right, I'm saying Saban will do what he feels givesus the best chance to win.

If I'm Saban, I'd probably start AJ at first, but of course, it's not my job and reputation on the line...
I think generally you're right and feeley may not be ready to run this offense versus first teamers and that's why gus will start the season. By game four AJ will be much further along and may in fact be ready to take over.

I see the grand plan now....trust me.... ;)

Sometimes i think people who start these threads actually believe AJ will magically morph into a starter. He's not either. Can't say Gus is great... but I'm not jumping on any bandwagon. AJ is crap... he's not going to develop upside. He's been in this league long enough.

yes he has been in the league awhile. but can you honestly say he has been given EVERY chance to show what he has?. I don't know if he will "morph" into a great QB. But I will say I would like to see what he has with all the available tools at his disposal and with decent gameplanning/coaching. Like I said you have seen the best Gus has already!!

That's your opinion I guess but, I think you're wrong.

We haven't given him a chance to become starter material. No one is happy with our qb play, but if we are going to win 6-7 games with an old qb then let's see what AJ can do with a decent offensive system. If he sucks, then we get to draft Lienart.

agreed that would be a wrong opinion on Canadianfishfan.

he's upset because he wanted gus to be good...or at least better than AJ...poor guy....

Check this quote out....
I think (the quarterback situation) is something we need to continue to evaluate," Dolphins coach Nick Saban said. "It seems the entire preseason whichever quarterback played second has played best."

You know what it really says....it reallly says that AJ Feeley has outplayed gus frerotten in 3 out of 4 games.....

So, give CFF a break, he's in pain.

:goof:

I agree completely. Shanahan thought he could turn Plummer into a consistant QB in Denver but Plummer is his same old self- great one game and lousy the next. Gus will be no better here than he was anywhere else, which means he will be a back-up. Sooner or later Saban has to start AJ. My guess is it will be sooner (perhaps after our bye week) rather than later.

We've got a month before AJ takes over....Frerotten will start the first three games of the season, he will guide us to a blistering 0-3 record and then Saban will make the QB switch during our bye week so that Feeley has two weeks to prepare with the first teamers.

I can also definitely see this happening. Ever since Gus arrived, I've imagined him becoming the starter, and AJ coming in once he knew the system a little better. I forgot the bye week was so early, but I think the staff may have seen enough of Gus by this point. I don't think he's going to throw ten picks or anything, but I think he's going to miss on some big plays, and just not be able to move the ball any more effectively than AJ does.

I guess that could be valuable in the long run. Let AJ learn on the sidelines first 3 weeks and bring him in after the bye. I don't know if we are going to make a "playoff run" this year anyway.

WYSIWYG...Gus and Ears...but perhaps, just perhaps, AJ has some upside...we just haven't seen enough of him to judge...(not with a full deck of cards)...

could not have said it better...we aren't playoff bound this year anyway, let's see what the (younger) guy has since Gus is too old to be our future.
