ferrotte.. wheres the advantage???

I still don't see what is wrong with having a veteran running this offense. He has shown he can audible and run an offense well.

I think that says more about people's inability to analyze QB play. Locking on to receivers is not a factor of not knowing the system. It is a result of not having a feel for the game. He locks on not b/c he doesn't know where the receiver will end up, but b/c he can't read the D and see where the openings will be in his head. Locking on is something that QBs with feel correct after a short while not something they still do in the fifth year of practice. Everytime I hear praise for AJ it usually involves him throwing a dart. To many people that's all they analyze when it comes to QBs. He can do that, but he lacks feel so he never knows when he can just lay it in there. Very few QBs develop feel if they don't show it at least some of the time early on. AJ will not suddenly get feel just b/c he learns the system (although reports are he isn't real bright so that may take a while too). I heard one media (not PFT)report that said that despite the public face (everything is even) that the coaches are groaning when they watch tape of AJ. My guess is that they'll keep saying open competiton to keep the pressure on, but that Gus (although not great by any means) is already the starter in the coach's mind.

lol!!

Do u understand what Bias means?

Let's see the Phins were horrible last year. So was their QB play.

Frerotte had a great 2 games (Only 2 games mind you)

Of course the media and analysts expect there to be change. Just like they have wanted a change at QB for the Phins for the last 4 years and everytime the current QB played better.

Every unbiased report has Feeley better then Gus plain and simple.

THat may change tomorrow. But as of now Feeley is progressing better.

Media does not want the same mess that happened last year, so therefor ther critiscize.

Look at how Brees got bashed and everyone was saying how the Chargers needed to get a QB. They did and guess who shined. Now these same experts and analysts are praising a QB who only a year a go considered a bust.

Feeley is progressing better. End of story

There lies the problem, but a good one..this tells me that if Feeley is in this system for 2 years, he'd be light years ahead of Gus, thus saying that the potential lies with Feeley and the immeditate wins lies with Gus. The fact that Feeley can even hang with Gus right now, gives me hope that this guy, once comfortable with this system can light up a score board. It's too early to said which should start, but I think the long term solution remains with Feeley. It should his job to lose. Gus is a good coach for Feeley at this point, but Feeley's arm was made for this system. Now he just has to get it down pat..the fact he's now starting to check down is really encouraging. The fact that they have the time to check down is encouraging in that the OL is giving them enough time to do so..that year, they could only look at one receiver, I think that where Feeley picked up that habit, never having time to look somewhere else.

Yeah thats whats weird with the AJ bashing to me. I defintely saw improvement as the season wore on and I dont see why it should stop. I am cautiously optimistic that he is still improving from what Ive read. Frerotte is a known commodity. I dont see why people would be rooting for him to start. If we draft a qb next year we are at least three years away from doing anything. Now if I honestly thought that Feeley could never be good enough to take us to the Suoper Bowl (like I felt about Fiedler, Griese and Lucas and honestly how I feel about Frerotte) I wouldnt care who starts this season knowing thaqt next year we would be drafting a QB. But I honestly bvelieve that if we go with Feeley he will improve even more this year from game 1 to game 16 and could be pretty good by the end of the season. I love his toughness and arm. I think he has 4 areas to improve upon - touch, birddogging, pocket awareness and turnovers. It seems he has been pretty good on the turnover front so far this camp. If he can improve on just two of the other areas he will be a decent QB THIS SEASON. I cant fuigure out why some people want to root against him. Must be former Fiedler supporters

IMO... Gus looks better interms of checkin down his receivers (even though he didnt see a couple of open guys last night) you can also just see that he knows where the WRs are supposed to be by turning around a firing to a guy on an out that he wasnt even lookin at...

Feeley looks better interms of his actual throws. He has more zip on the ball and a tighter spiral... Gus throws a duck from time to time... However Feeley still has a tendency to lock onto a receiver and isnt quite checking down his WRs quick enough...

It is a pretty even battle but each is struggling and succeeding with different things...

Nasty

NASTY - You are getting no respect here man. Apparently you have no cred. LOL. Well I got your back

I have been slacking and I have not made it to camp yet so I cannot comment on Feeley locking on to his targets. Let me put it as simple as I can; if Feeley and Ferotte are as close as people are saying, Feeley is going to start. I have before and I could once more go on a tiraid about why Feeley should start over Gus but it is a moot point. I cannot figure out why people forgot all about the fact that Gus was brought in as a back up. He was thrown to wolves last season and he still showed alot of progression with zero help. Why throw away a second round pick when Feeley very well coud be a servicable starter

Agree with everything but the 2nd round argument. Who cares what we gave up for him. He showed enough that I am feeling like he might pan out. The 2nd rounder is irrelevent to me
