Fiedler Top Backup?

reading the article made me wonder where quincy carter is now? last i heard he was a free agent. why hasnt he been picked up? he had his ups and downs with the cowboys as does any young qb. he was picked up by the jets last year and did ok. i wouldnt mind bringing him in at minimum and battle with sage. i like sage but imo carter has more potential.

btw, i think kitna and volek are the best backups.

Kitna is the best backup, then Garcia, then Holcomb.

Agreed. Lets not forget Garcia thrived in Mooch's system and he has three of the most explosive young wide recievers to ever play on one team.

Heck, remember how well JAY played before he came to Miami. He has some good games for Jacksonville (including that wax job they did on us). Coaching and a poor OL did us a lot of bad. Look how well Brian Griese played one year after an unsuccessful stint in Miami. Drive down Dale Mabry Hwy here in Tampa next to the stadium, and you'll see Brian Griese featured on a huge billboard along with Derrick Brooks and Michael Clayton. Tampa's OL is pretty bad as well.

lets see what he can do in a real system before we hope he starts for the Jets. I for one do not...at all...want to see Jay come in and enact his revenge against us. I think he could be extremely effective in a good system such as theirs.

I think he's a good player off the bench. You can't count on him for extended games. But off the bench to get a win, absolutely.

Jay is a great QB if you like your backup to throw INT's that get run back for 6.

:yell: :fire:

Nice research by Clark Judge. I'm beginning to think NO ONE at CBS Sportsline actually watches the damn sport.

Jon Kitna is the best backup in football....followed VERY closely by Billy Volek.

Doug Flutie gets honourable mention? What exactly has he ever done in the NFL? He was o.k. for a little while in Buffalo (until he got exposed by the Dolphin defense).

There is nothing I can say about Jay Fiedler which has'nt been said 1,000 times on this board before.

1. Ramsey
2. Cambell
3. brunnell

I share your enthusiasm for Ramsey (imagine what we'd think of Rick had he gotten him for that second), but Campbell is a QB I don't understand going when he did. I don't think he's going to do jack. Brunell was terrible last year.

As to Jay, I would put him right behind Kitna in the backup race and well ahead of the likes of Holcomb. If Frerotte is the backup, I'd put him there as well. I don't think Feeley is the type of backup QB you want -- even though he did well for the Eagles in that role, I don't think he has enough experience to be mentioned as a top backup. I want any backup QB on a team I'm GMing to have a lot of experience. I may even want them to be more experienced than the starter.

u have to be kidding me, feidler has one of the weakest arms in the nfl, i would take all of the other qb's ahead of him exept maybe mccown and flutie

That's strange because it seems the Jaguars, Dolphins, and Jets all disagree with you. I guess that says something about your chances of working in the front office of a pro franchise. ;)

Remember his weakness is the long ball, we never gave him the chance to throw those 10-20 yarders that he is actually extremely good at.

That's all we ever gave him. He wasn't asked to throw long very often.
