Final score: Patriots vs dolphins

Whatever you guys are smoking, I would like some. This has 24-17 written all over it. Miami falls short... Not that I am a self hating Dolphins fan, let's just be real. What have we shown in the pre-season with the 1s, leads anyone to believe we can score more then 17 points?

Yeah your right...preseason is the Crystal ball and true indicator of where a team is...especially that 4th game where the starters Sat the whole thing out.

I saw plenty to be optimistic about...of course they have to execute it...and we certainly haven't seen everything yet.

I like Miami at home...1pm...heat index over 100 degrees playing a team from farther north than parts of Canada.

Heat won't be a big advantage because its been relatively hot and humid in Boston the past few weeks.

Not sure why there are so many here who accuse those who think the Fins will win a close one as homers against a team who the Fins beat last year and had a good shot at beating them twice had the ball bounced our way a couple times. And that was with (I feel) a weaker team, both on the field and in the booth (Sherman). Would I bet a large sum of money on a Fins win? Hell no, but conversely, I wouldn't bet a large sum of money that the Fins will lose either. Should be a good game and I cannot wait to watch. Longest frigging week of the year for me.

We only gave up 30+ points once last season and that was a primetime game on the road @ New Orleans.. I don't think the Patriots are scoring 30+ points on us

Ill further this by saying we've only given up 30+ points at home once in the last 2 seasons, to Tenneessee in 2012

Miami's heat, humidity, is different than Boston's.

It really isn't. Humidity in Massachusetts is pretty stifling as well, just doesn't happen as often. Unfortunately this week in Boston its suppose to be 80-90 degrees all week so the Pats will be prepared. I don't see this as a huge advantage for us. Remember the Monday night home opener a few years back against the Pats? Temps were in the high 80's at kickoff and it still didn't stop them.

Yeah the difference between 90 with the heat index and 110 doesn't have a big impact on your body, it might affect your sleep, which isn't an issue in an air conditioned hotel room, but thats about it. And every once in a while when a hurricane blows up the coast we literally get the same Caribbean air. It had been an unseasonably cold August but unfortunately that changed the past few weeks (unfortunately for the Dolphins, fortunately for us). So if you're banking on a heat advantage I would think again, they will be ok. Hell, if the Dolphins keep practicing in the air conditioned bubble its possible the Pats could be better prepared for the humidity.

You get the biggest advantages when you go from cold to hot, even if its freezing to just 70 or 80. Its scientifically proven that your body acclimates to its environment, if you teleported a Cuban native and an Eskimo to the arctic there is probably a sweet spot where the Cuban would literally die of hypothermia and the Eskimo would be totally fine. So there is a physical advantage but I think the even bigger advantage is the mental one. When you go from Boston to Miami in December its going to feel like you stepped off the plane to a vacation, and a lot of players simply won't work as hard and will be distracted.

And if the anecdotal evidence is not enough here is some physical evidence:

Brady at SunLife over the past decade:
Sept/Oct/Nov: 5-0
Dec: 1-4

I'll say 31-24 Miami en route to an 11-5 season. We push NE hard for the division but ultimately settle for the first Wild Card. Bam!

I am getting a weird feeling about Miami this week but I keep going back to how great NE has been in season openers.

Patriots 27
Dolphins 17

i'm taking the pats...maybe we got a chance if we kill em with tempo but i think we are gonna struggle to stop their running game and if gronk looks anything like his old self our lbs and safeties are in serious trouble...i do think that we win the next 3 though...at buffalo although with our lb core bad qbs can surely beat us...we can help on the inside and let the tackles handle the edge guys on on one or with a tight end chipping or keep in sims for james should he need it against that front...vs kc where that oline is really bad right now and at oakland who's old as hell all over the place and likely starting a rookie qb and if not matt schaub is way washed up...schaub is a corpse

3-1 at the bye

Lol...dude...you have no idea what your talking about if you say that. I live in NE...and I grew up in South Florida and the two are not even close. Not saying the weather will have an effect....but your on crack if you think the heat and humidity in Boston this week resembles anything like South Florida.

You know we don't have to take your word, or anybody's word for it right? They actually measure this stuff and the measured data is easily accessible on this thing called the internet....

For example today's high feel like temperature in Miami is 109 and in Boston its 106, you think a 3 degree difference is worth going off on somebody over?

It's about the humidity. I'll take 110 in Cali over 90 in Florida any day of the week...lived many years in both.
