Final score: Patriots vs dolphins

35-12 pats...sorry but come on guys...seriously?

Why the hell do some people think they're gonna blow us out? We played them tough in both games last season. I see this one being a close 4th quarter game either way. It's not like they're unbeatable, they barely beat the Bills last year to open the season.

If the game is close the Refs always make bad calls against us, Revis will be able to undress Mike Wallace with no flags, but when it's crunch time the Refs will allow the Patriots to prevail, do yall remember that pittsburgh steelers game years ago when rothlisberger fumbled and Miami recovered the ball? Refs has a funny way of affecting the game at crucial times.

31-24 Patriots. BB will find some weakness in our LB corps and exploit it all day and gas us in the heat in humidity. I just don't see Philbin outcoaching BB in the first game of the year.

The Patriots are practically undefeated in season openers since BB took over. I think the only loss was to a Bledsoe-led Bills squad in 03

I really believe we can win this and I'll tell you why.

Brady is increasingly jittery in the pocket. He still has all the throws and the sheer will to win that makes him great, but it's a truism at this point that he isn't as comfortable under pressure as he was.

Brady just lost his blindside guard and isn't happy about it. There isn't really a ready-made replacement at left guard who has the same connection with their QB. It'll probably be Kline, who is a decent player, but that's not the point. The point is, Brady will need it proven to him in a game situation that the line can keep him safe. He's going to be a little more tentative/susceptible, in my view, than normal until the line proves itself.

We get to test that line in week 1. It's a work in progress and it going to be tested by one of the league's great d-lines, with added blitz heat. I really believe that line isn't ready for us yet and I think that'll have an effect on Brady, which is what we need to win.

They're talking about all kinds of shuffles to get the best guys on the field. It could be Solder, Kline, Connolly/Wendell, Vollmer, Cannon. That's a new combo for the Pats and while they're all good players, the unit is only as good as the weakest link. If we can introduce doubt into the o-line and Brady with our clear team strength, this could be a nice starting win.

There are other reasons why things might not pan out that way, but I think we're getting them at a great time to give Tom a dose of happy feet and snag a win.

Pats 34

Fins 20

Last years home win against the Patriots was against a team that had a receiving core decimated by injuries. The pats have restocked their receiving core with bigger and faster receivers. They will be a nightmare to cover in the red zone. With the addition of Wright they will also run a lot of two tight end formations . That will put a lot of pressure on the Fins linebackers. The defense is better with the return of Wilfork and Mayo.

30-21 Pats.

Our offense is creative/interesting but not quite matured enough and mistake-prone. Many missed opportunities. Linebackers continue to miss tackles, leading to big gains on screens and throws out to the flats. Can't get off field on 3rd and long situations. Sturgis misses two long FGs. We'll look back on this game as one that was within reach.

Let's put it this way, last year was a down year for the Patriots and they were a hair away from sweeping us and won the division easily. It was probably the worst roster they had from top to bottom in the post Super Bowl years, and it only got worse as the season progressed with all the injuries.

This year they are drastically improved. I believe the Dolphins have improved as well, but not nearly enough to close the gap. I will be very pleasantly surprised if they manage to pull off a victory in the season opener

It really isn't. Humidity in Massachusetts is pretty stifling as well, just doesn't happen as often. Unfortunately this week in Boston its suppose to be 80-90 degrees all week so the Pats will be prepared. I don't see this as a huge advantage for us. Remember the Monday night home opener a few years back against the Pats? Temps were in the high 80's at kickoff and it still didn't stop them.

I have felt the NE heat and humidity quite a bit, and I have also felt the Miami heat and humidity quite a bit, have played football with friends in both areas in summer time(And this was only pickup games, not NFL), there is quite a difference.
