Fins Backfield: 2 Top 5 Picks! ! !

Yeah like I was saying, the great thing about this is that usually when something like this happens at least one of the guys turned out not to be a great running back. Good example was Kijana Carter & Garrison Hearst. Hearst was good with San Fran but he wasn't very good anywhere else and Kijana is one of the biggest RB busts ever.

All of these examples you bring up EXCEPT the oakland one with Marcus Allen and Bo Jackson, most of the guys never proved worthy of the pick they were taken. Ricky actually proved himself worthy of that pick on the football field...it's off the field you have to worry about him. Hopefully, Ronnie will prove he's worth it on the football field too.

Kijana Was a Bust because of his Injury Problems....he was extremely talented!

His production on the field when he was not injured does not back up your claim.

We will never know if injury was the cause for his lack of production when he came back on the field

The two of them seem to have had some real injury troubles during that time though. Bo only averaged 10 games a year and Marcus averaged 13 games a year.

Bo didn't play full seasons -- he had that baseball career that came first. That's why he played so few games -- he wouldn't even start until October.

I can't speak to Marcus, but I seem to recall the lore being that he sometimes wouldn't see the field just because Al Davis was in a mood.

Can anyone name me a team in the history of the NFL where there were two TOP 5 Picks(Ronnie 2nd Overall,Ricky 5th Overall) in the same Backfield ? ? ?.
Remember about 4 years ago when the Dolphins had No one at RB(Lamar Smith does not count Guys)....look at us now! ! !

I'm looking for RB only that were top 5 picks on the same team!!!

I know you said RBs only, but just think if we signed Couch. We could then have 3 top 5 picks in the same backfield.

I really doubt that it has been done in the last 20 years. There just have not been that many RBs taking in the top 5.

Here is an interesting little fact however. The Dolphins about accomplished it already. In 66 our first overall pick was a RB named Jim Grabowski. Two years later in 68 we drafted someone ya never heard of, named Larry Csonka hee hee. But as I'm sure you all remember, Larry was taken in the first round in the 8th pick. But hey we were close.

I am just gonna assume that at least once they were in the backfield at the same time, since Larry was a FB in college.

Interesting huh?
