If Ricky does pull the bankruptcy ploy and become a free agent, there is still a bright side for us.

The Raiders are on our schedule next year.

Even though it's on the road, that will still give our defense 60 chances to dive at his knees (from front or behind) and tackle him by his facemask. Let him and Darryl Stingley share a breathing tube. :fire:
 
Also, this just drives home the fact that this guy is a piece of slime. Every day I grow to dislike the man and what he did more and more.

Do you really think they can get the money back from Ricky ? From what I've heard in the news he has virtually no attainable assets. What are you going to get from him...his tent ? They would have to opt to garnish future wages.

This guy is a loser and I dont think if I was a Phins fan I would want him back under any circumstances. How could he ever get the respect back from his teammates ?
 
If Mr. H decides to go with the $$ then he could possibly be the worst owner ever... we already lost 2 first rounders on this leaf head and if he decides to get a little $$ back then that means he gives two ****s about the team. 3.3 million of that money wasn't even H's money. He's gotta think future of the organization... if there is a chance we can get anything out of ricky by keeping his rights then we gotta keep his rights... getting a million bucks back to stick in his pocket isn't gonna **** for the team!

As much as it makes sence to believe that a contract is a contract and there happens to be one with Ricky's sig. on it that states "if you drop a gear and go crazy on us then you owe us xxx". In todays legal system I would not be surprised if somehow Ricky gets out of this as clean as O.J. Simpson.
 
I dont agree w/ the majority of the posters here. I say take the money....ensure Ricky has to EARN anything else.

My guess is that he will struggle to make "serious" money because everyone in the NFL knows he is a worthless POS. Take the money and ruin this dudes life......we dont want him on the team and everyone knows this anyway, what would we REALLY get for him from folks who know he CANT play on our team for his own safety.......

This does not make much sense. You would think that the NFL would be on to this. Then why wouldn't a young player with like 2 or so years in the league at minimum salary... just declare bankruptcy and go get a new contract somewhere else? For example when Clinton Portis was demanding new deal. He had a small enough salary before he could have just bought a HUGE house in FL and then gone bankrupt and got a new deal from the highest bidder.

No, this does not seem right.

Now, personally I would hold his rights and screw him, but then again it is not my $8.6 Million...

a key factor is whether the bankruptcy is deemed to be in "good faith". Since RW has publicly stated that he might file bankruptcy to try to keep the money, plus the fact that he is traveling all over the world at a time that he is talking about bankruptcy means he may not meet the requirement of "good faith". A judge may deny the bankruptcy, force Ricky to pay the money back, and enforce the contract keeping his rights in Miami till he fulfills the contract or until he is traded.
