Yes. I realize Coyle was undrafted to the Seahawks, and I know Tripp has great measurables. But having watched entire griz games, not just highlight tapes, Coyle was always the one who stood out to me. He isn't as fast as Tripp but seemed to read plays faster and had a better nose for the football.

Its just my opinion, I'm not a scout, I'm not trying to bash the kid, and I certainly hope Tripp kicks ass in Miami (I hope they both kick ass, being from Montana). But I feel like a lot of posters here are over-rating Tripp. I think he'll play special teams next year and not much else. Hope I'm wrong and he wins a starting job, I'd be happy to eat crow on that.

I don't think Tripp lacks instincts, from what I've seen of him. I think he's a little indecisive when he does read the play. You can see him holding his position on a lot of plays, waiting for the "right time to strike". Sometimes he's right to have paused, but a lot of the time he'd be better served trusting his gut and getting after the player. I don't believe you can coach instinct, but you can coach players to trust their instincts and be more decisive.

Someone compared him to Kiko Alonso in one of the threads. I think he has that game read, up-on-his-toes, hair trigger ability that Alonso has, but the difference is that - by the time Tripp has made up his mind - Alonso would have sacked the guy and be halfway through his celebration dance. The great guys don't wait, they dictate the terms of the play and Tripp can definitely learn that.

I don't see him as a starter straight away. One of Trusnik and Freeny is gone to make room for him though.

Tripp lacks physicality and that doesn't translate well in the NFL. He's athletic, but he's pretty soft when it comes to contact. Reminds me of cheap version of Bobby Carpenter.
