If you look at it through the draft, FA, & trade we have made mostly upgrades, obviously there is some other positions we could still focus on but I'm happy with the direction we are going.

QB:
Henne
Moore
Devlin - potential

- No upgrade at the position but I know the new OC is an upgrade which I hope should help Henne if not hopefully Moore can return to form from 2009.
(I'll discuss my agreement for not making the Orton trade)

RB:
Bush
Thomas
Grigsby

- Our rushing was awful last year so we went faster & younger & have someone that can take it the distance from anywhere on the field.

TE:
Fasano
Clay

- Personally I like Fasano he had a career year last season & is a solid blocker. Clay brings more athleticism & speed. I know they are saying his head is spinning some now but that's why they have training camp.

WR:
Marshall
Bess
Hartline
Gates

- Not much of a need for an upgrade, you can argue Hartline but we have 2 studs in Marshall & Bess. We added a deep threat in Gates & maybe he can take Hartlines spot if he struggles.

OL:
Long
Incognito
Pouncey
Carey
Columbo/Murtha/Garner - or someone not on roster

- Awful run blocking last year, added Pouncey & moved Carey to G which I think he is better suited for. Obvious concern is RT but hopeful there is a plan or that Columbo has some left in the tank.

DL:
Solai
Starks
Langford
Edrick
Merling
McDaniel
Fields

- Having Merling & Odrick back healthy to an already impressive line is amazing. Also you know Nolan hand picked Fields to back up Solai from his 49ers/Broncos days.

LB:
Wake
Dansby
Burnett
Misi
Taylor
Edds

- Strong group of LB's then add a veteran presence like JT it's a great fit. Burnett is better than Crowder & Edds was the best cover LB in the draft last year so now that he's recovered from his injury he should be ready to help in the nickel package.

DB:
Davis
Smith
Clemons
Bell
Jones
Allen
Wilson

- Like the LB's its a strong group already but getting Allen back to play nickel and the development of Jones and add the camp Wilson is having they are looking good.

The QB situation: I'm happy the trade for Orton was NOT made I would rather save the money & draft pick on a true franchise QB if Henne or Moore don't work out this season. Plus Henne has a better record than Orton the last 2 years. Henne 14-17 & Orton 10-19 (4-11 last 15 games). Plus last year we played the 2 Super Bowl teams and beat Green Bay in Green Bay and 1 HORRIBLE call away from beating the Steelers.

I think Clyde Gates is going to the real deal. The next Tory Holt IMO.

I'd call the WR's a significant upgrade because of him and Wallace's improvement.

You are relying on rookies to give us significant upgrades on O in year 1 - that almost never happens. We had several opportunities to upgrade at WR, QB, TE, and OG and we didn't. Great job guys.

Am I reading this correctly, Burnett/Dansby is a downgrade over Crowder/Dansby? I know we lost our best tackler 5 yards beyond the LOS, but I'm hoping that Burnett can do that and then some.

Only place he's doing that is at C, RB and TE. Whether its as much of an upgrade as you would've liked, its still an upgrade over what we had.

I disagree with these things. QB position is the same with Devlin having potential. If we're running a WCO, Reggie fits well with the offense and Thomas should be a good power back. With this new offense, we no longer need RBs like Ricky and Ronnie to carry the load. Burnett over Crowder is a huge upgrade. Crowder wasn't a playmaker and one of the players I disliked the most. ST should be better than last year. Can't be any worse.

I don't know if you joined WV and the gang of negative nancys, but you've been awfully negative lately.

CK has been calling Burnett a downgrade since the day it happened.

Would love to get some feedback on the logic. When you look at sheer numbers Burnett is miles ahead of Channing 'No Big Play' Crowder. Believe CK is convinced that there is a huge drop off in football IQ. Wouldn't Dansby easily take the lead from Crowder on running the LB core, calling & dissecting plays?

EDIT - Sounding like a CK stalker today... just happen to follow him on Twitter.

Don't follow. How is QB a downgrade? It's still Chad Henne...should be a push. Pennington's arm fell off so he couldn't throw...I would think having a QB that can at least make more than 2 passes in a game would be an upgrade in Moore and Thigpen wouldn't run the offense, he wouldn't sit in the pocket. Only thing he has over Devlin is experience so that may be a slight downgrade...for now. I see QB as a push.

RB...agree...more wait and see for me but for now downgrade unless Bush stays healthy and Thomas shows he's worth the pick.

ILB is an upgrade. No way is Burnett not an upgrade over Crowder...33 tackles in 11 games for Crowder. Burnett had 95 tackles, 6 sacks, 5 PD, 2 INTs and 2 FF to the defense.

You think Burnett is a downgrade from Chowder? You are being negative today CK.

I'm convinced someone hacked CK's account on this one. IDK how OL is a push when they didn't lose anyone and added Pouncey(unless of course you don't think Pouncey is any good). I'm also not too sure how RB can be a downgrade seeing as how the ground game was so terrible for Miami last year and boy do I hope you're wrong about this because if the RB's are worse the Phins are going to suck something terrible. ILB downgrade... really? Well I guess you could say we lost depth because one of the starters and the primary backup are both gone but I can't imagine you'd think Burnett is a downgrade to Crowder. I really don't even know how QB is a downgrade, I mean were you that high Thigpen, because that's all they really lost. Everything else I pretty much agree with though, so good post I guess...

How is RB, OLB, S, ST, and ILB not an upgrade? We had R&R one year too long last year, the new speed will make a big difference.
Last year we had no one besides Wake at OLB. Misi will be improved and JT will provide depth that can actually apply pressure.
S that has to be a joke just on the fact that Clemons will be better, Reshad will be better, and Jimmy Wilson looks like he can play.
ST, too early to tell not sure why you downgraded.
ILB lol, we replaced Dobbins and Crowder with a healthy Edds and Burnett not sure what you think of Dobbin and Crowder but there is a reason that no one was jumped on the opportunity to sign them
