First Depth Chart of the Year

Then he should of been brought in to compete with Smith. Davis has the same experience, 3 times the interceptions and get paid more. Fact is Davis had more int's last year than Smith has in his career.

He probably was. But it sounds like Smith is outplaying Davis or they have other plans for Davis.
By contract alone Marshall will be playing, One of the other 2 may be the odd man out.

Some Quick Thoughts:

Ugh Marlon Moore being ahead of Roberto Wallace disgusts me. Really hope Wallace makes the team as I've been hearing good things...

Not sure what to make of Lamar Miller being #4. From what we've heard from the media at training camp so far, he's been pushing for at least the #2 spot.

Not ready to count Vontae out yet. Still expect him to be the starter. If I remember last year he was really fantastic for the most part.

Oline looks really nice, still quite surprised that Artis Hicks has pretty much got that spot locked down.

Anderson Russel still #3 on the depth chart for one of the safety positions. Makes me thing this is a very rough depth chart that will probably have no bearance on what we saw at the start of the season. I'll wait until pre-season is well under way, and then I will get concerned with things such as Vontae. It might be that Marshall and Smith have just looked really good? If that is the case then our corners are looking really strong this year.

Man i I know it's early but i really hope Rishard Matthews picks it up, I really want this kid on the team.

He is supposed to be the leader and our pass defense was ranked 25th overall. That is NOT fantastic. Not all his fault but c'mon man!

richard marshalls contract isn't gonna dictate anything...he got like $5 mil guaranteed...thats pretty much high end 3rd corner money...the only thing it does say is miami has plans to have him on the field a lot...and as a top 3 corner and first nickle corner he will be a plenty...you gotta have pretty much 3 starting quality corners in this league nowadays and your 4th even better be no slouch

Our safety play was terrible, Sean Smith wasn't exactly great last year and Nolan Carroll was beyond atrocious.. That's a large chunk of the secondary. Im not saying he was perfect, but in parts he was fantastic.

There's only so much one corner can do when the rest of your secondary is a liability. He's not on the level of a darrell revis where he can shut down half the pitch and dictate schemes that build around him.

Im not a fan of Omar, and his blog is poorly written, constantly repeating himself and delivering the same message. I do appreciate what he has to say regarding Vontae tho, it's clearly not a demotion and it's refreshing to see a journalist acknowledge the media's over-exaggeration.

the problem i have with the building thru the trenches mentality is we've been building thru the trenches for the last 5 damn years already...
You obviously mean "attempted" to build through the trenches this is year one again and sadly it looks like it'll be more successful than the last 5 combined.

Thank goodness. Then my life can be complete.

Actually you're surprisingly high on this team. 9 wins?? Goodness, that must mean they're SB contenders.

Well, if you were realistic and not a WVDolphan hater, you would realize the fact that I think this is a 9 win team means this team is most likely around a 9 win team. Did they win the SB or something the last couple of season when I said the team would blow and finish around .500 or below? I mustve missed that. Just as you mustve missed when I predicted an 11 win season the last time we had an 11 win season and won the division. Remember that year? The one when all the kool aid drinkers thought we were going to be horrible. You know, because Pennington is just terrible. Best QB we have had since Fiedler and way better than Henne or Garrard ever could be but, he was a bad idea. No way we were winning that year.

If you dont want to read the get real thread...... dont. Keep that wool over your eyes and check up on Chad Johnson's twitter.

Very true. However, when you consider who was doing the building, no wonder it was never set just right.

I like what we have in the trenches now. By far the most talent we have is on the OL and DL. 1st round picks galore. The key is we have a QB, who was a 1st rounder and hopefully has the talent to match. If he does, this team will be winning again real soon. If not, we need to try again.

Thats why Im all about starting Tannehill ASAP. We have to find out if he can play or not before our talent on the LOS gets too old.

I don't really care TOO much about the depth chart on August 6th. For a new staff, the real tryouts will be during the preseason games. Just as an example, with the noise a guy like Anderson Russell has made at safety, you want to see him in an actual game setting to see if he is worth keeping around. Same for any of the guys auditioning for return man; a guy many forgot about (and some believed to be released) in Marcus Thigpen was GREAT in college and in the CFL at that job. You really can't win that job in YC.

Anyways, based on how I see the roster ending up I could see us between 5 and 11 wins; it just depends on certain things. 11 is if everything goes right ala 2008. I think 9 is a fair guess from WV. The big thing is, I get the feeling we are going to be relying heavily on a lot more youngsters than people may think.

How many O-lineman do you think make the final roster? And who do you think they could be?
