I know its kind of early to be wondering about next year, but if you had to make a guess of 5 "known" players on the current roster who will not be around next year which players would you select and why? This is not to say you don't want these players, just musing on who might be gone. In no particular order my selections are:

1. Reggie Howard. He hasn't had the impact I had hopped he would. Being a hold-over from Wannstedt/Spielman doesn't help.

2. Stockar McDougal. Again, better things were hoped for. There are bound to be changes in the O-line and a vet or two are bound to be let go.

3. Olindo Mare. I like Olindo, but he seems to have fallen off. Life span of past successful Dolphin place kickers? Garo, 9 years, von Shamann, 6 years, Reveiz, 4 years, and Stoyanovich, 7 years. Olindo? 9 years. The hour glass may be about empty.

4. Ricky Williams. I do not feel the Dolphins can afford (personnel wise) to keep him. He has shown he can still play and as long as he continues to pass drug screens he will have trade value as there are always teams looking for a quality running back. If the price is right, Come on down!!!

5. Sage Rosenfels. The purge of the Wannstedt era continues. I have nothing against Sage but I suspect he may get caught in a numbers game. I see no way all 3 qbs currently on the roster will be here next season, and I believe Ferrotte will be around either to mentor a young qb or to be a verteran back-up. Thats my pick, take yours.

Honorable mention goes to Madison (age/cost), Lemon or Ferrotte (see above, a qb will be gone), Traylor (age/health), McIntosh (need a stud L OT).

Olindo, and ricky will most likley be here next year as well as stockar

the other 2 good riddance

Olindo and Ricky aren't going anywhere. Name a better backup RB that will be available. Name a better kicker that will be available.

Mare more than likely.... Ricky DEFF.... what are you talking about wont be able to afford him?

Edit: I mean theyre both staying

I doubt they will get rid of Ricky unless someone offers a 2nd rounder for him. I doubt you will see Mare go either, unless they pick up some very promising youngster for next to nothing.

i thought that ricky was under contract for 3 years was it ? this was one of three so ricky wont be going nowhere :shakeno:

McDougle definitely isnt coming back since he is on a one year contract as is and hasnt done anything to justify it with his constant penalties and lack of concentration. Madison is a maybe since he has a big contract but it all depends on his willingness to take a paycut. Mare is also a possibility but a very small one. He makes alot of money for a kicker. Ricky isnt going anywhere. Saban knows the importance of a good ground game and Ricky is making minimum as is. Unless we get a great offer like a first round, then Ricky I dont think is going anywhere. Rosenfels, may not get an offer to come back. Howard, with his salary and poor play is gone. Traylor may stick, I think that one is up to him as I think Saban loves having him on the team.

Eddie Moore -- It is long past time to get rid of him. It's worth the $300k or so cap hit to save his base salary.

Wade Smith -- He's another non-Saban guy. Getting rid of he and Moore will surely make most Dolphins fans jump for joy. What wastes they were.

David Boston -- I don't know if he'll be out of the league or not, but I cannot imagine bringing him back.

Travis Minor -- I think only one of Minor and Morris will be back, and it's really a no brainer which one that should be if you ask me.

Keith Traylor -- I think this is it for him. I thank him for his year and would welcome him back. I just don't see it happening, though.

I don't know that Howard is gone because it looks like the cap hit might be big. We'll have to see just how bad Saban thinks he has been.

The Dolphins have so many other needs (OL, DB, QB) I see having two premier running backs as a luxury the Dolphins can't afford. If moving Ricky can help the Dolphins fill one of these needs I think it would be a good move.

If the needs were not so many I would feel differently.

Ricky isn't expensive, and the Dolphins should be well under the cap.

No offense man but you dont know what youre talking about.... Rickys getting paid as much as a backup... and hes a starter... that in itself is a luxury... why jus throw that away?

Ricky shouldnt be getting as many carries as he does

BUT

They should keep him unless they get a great trade offer
