Five who may not be around next year

You make points, but the points can be debated. How much money would teams have had to have paid Edge, or Alexander? A gargantuan amount, plus a pick. Ricky's baggage might have been a bargain when no signing bonus was involved. They would lose a pick, and I do agree that it would not be a second, but one could argue that a 3rd is possible, especially if it's a conditional one. Or it may be the means of moving up in the draft. Anythings possible.
I dont think RW is going anywhere cause Saban knows he cant get the equivalent of RW's worth to the phins cause of his past issues. So Saban did the right/smart thing and made nice with RW.

And you dont think that if RW were by some means getting traded that:
A: Saban wouldnt want immediate compensation? Its Rw we're talking about. Hes a top 7 possibly still top 5 back when healthy not some scrub that you give a conditional pick for.
B: RW wouldnt ask for a new contract?

IMO a team like Philly or Minny should take him but who knows. I just know that at 350k he represents a GREAT value and is the best backup in the league

Any idea how many people we lost from last year's roster? 28! That's some turnover. If Saban is true to form, it'll probably be more than 5 we lose. I don't think it will be 28 again and we are in much better cap shape this year. But Nick has proven he's not afraid to make moves. Should be an interesting off season.

LB Brendan Avanbadejo (trade, CHI)
WR Ronald Bellamy (cut)
DT Tim Bowens (cut)
QB Jay Fiedler (cut, NYJ)
DE Ronald Flemons (trade, SEA)
RB Brock Forsey (cut)
S Arturo Freeman (cut, TEN)
LB Morlon Greenwood (FA, HOU)
CB Deveron Harper (cut)
LB Corey Jenkins (waivers, GB)
OL Greg Jerman (cut, BUF)
RB Vick King (cut)
S Sammy Knight (FA, KC)
FB Rob Konrad (retired)
G Victor Leyva (cut, NE)
FB James Lynch (cut)
DT Mario Monds (cut)
WR James Newson (cut)
TE/LS Ed Perry (cut)
DT Bryan Robinson (FA, CIN)
S Ricky Sharpe (cut)
G Jamil Soriano (cut)
LB Billy Strother (cut)
CB Patrick Surtain (trade, KC)
DE Jay Williams (cut, STL)
S Quintin Williams (cut)
LB Renauld Williams (waivers, CLE)
S Shawn Wooden (cut)

There is no way Saban cuts anything near 28 players. That was a wiping out of the Wanny-era. Saban will keep the cutting down around 10 players, with the bulk of the team coming back next season.

Ricky shouldnt be getting as many carries as he does

They maybe showcasing him. I hope not, but you have to consider that.

See I'm not guessing that Ricky is coming or going. I'm saying to everyone that is so sure he's staying that they should not be so possitive about it.

And no I don't think the compensation has to be immediate. Not if its the right ammount. Stock piling picks is an excellent way to build, especially a first day pick.

Sure Ricky would ask for a new contract. He's doing that now, but there is a huge difference between the money he can expect, and the amount that Edge, or Alexander will demand. They wanted 40 million dollar contracts with a gaurantee of 20 million. Plus the Colts and Hawks wanted a 2nd in return. The second round pick would have been gobbled up by any team if they came with a contract already in place. Ricky's agent has said that they just want something fair. Right around the 2-3 million dollar range for a couple of years.

The leading edge for Miami is the fact that he owes them 8.6 million, which they can choose to forget under any scenario they see as fitting. Such as Ricky signing a new deal with them to stay, or in a deal that would trade him. If they were to trade him its the same theme, that he signs a cap friendly deal.

If it happens to be that they want him in Miami, that's fine with me. But 2-3 million could go a long way towards getting a badly needed starter, and is a bit much for a role playing backup Rb.
