I have resigned myself to the fact that most of our remaining games will not be on TV, and if last week was any indication, most fans are avoiding the stadium. Stephen Ross has stated that he wants to improve the Game-Day Experience, so I have an idea.

An empty seat brings in zero revenue, right? So, why not change strategy. Ross should go to all current season ticket holders and offer an upgrade to a better seat location...in order to clear entire sections of the upper deck. Then, he should lower the ticket prices for those sections....sell 4 packs for $100 or something along those lines. Even cheaper if possible. Get people to return to the stadium so they can enjoy the team in person. People always seem to ignore the obvious; Ross should publicly embrace it. "We know that we have not been successful at home, and we know that it is expensive to go to games, so for the remainder of the season, the Dolphins will be lowering ticket prices. Those who currently have tickets will be moved to better seat locations or into the lower bowl. And new fan sections, with fan friendly pricing, will fill our upper decks. It is our way of saying that we will continue to support our fans as long as they continue to support us."

There was a time, back in the 80's, when the Orange Bowl was among the most feared places to play in the league. The crowd noise rule was instituted because of us and the Kingdome in Seattle. Shula used to have to get on the referee's mic and ask the crowd to quiet down or the team would be penalized 5 yards. Now, if we fail to produce on 1-2 drives, the stadium dies. They need to fill that place, and I don't see any other way to do it than dropping prices. He won't lose money....an empty seat brings no revenue, no concession sales, no merchandise sales. Dedicate entire sections to lower-cost seating (and I don't mean like the Family Zone), and you will improve the game-day experience.

The main problem, and this is from season ticket holder, is not the prices. Cause people have forked over money for good games. It's the product on the field. And that has been lacking. In 2008, towards the end when we were able to get to 11-5, our stadium was full. Remember that 49ers game where Porter sacked Shaun HIll? Well I got sick that game, and I had section 454 tickets, anyways that saturday night I put it in ticketexchange by ticketmaster for $90 and it was sold by morning. That is double of what I paid for my tickets, and i said to myself if I can't sell it I'll go sick but i prefer to stay home, since I had a fever. Anyways, when the team is winning, people will pay the price.

Oh, I'm not blaming the price as the reason the stadium isn't full. It is, most definitely, the poor on-field product. But, if you make it more enticing through lower prices, you might attract more people on a game-by-game basis. Its hard to justify spending hundreds of dollars on season tickets when there is an excellent chance they will lose again. I went to the Patriots game and sat in the second-to-last row near the 5 yard line, and the tickets were $50 a piece. I can justify it for the Pats, but what about for Washington or Philly, two out-of-conference teams? While I don't think $50 is exorbitant, others might be dissuaded from plunking down their money for a team struggling at home. Add parking to the mix, and it gets worse.

Ya I drove from Cape Coral, FL and it was crazy. And the whole time I was thinking, imagine if the team didn't hand out free tickets to season ticket holders? Crazy. I think if we win the next 2 I think Broncos will sell out. But if we continue this losing, bye bye fans. LOL

The billionaire-owners don't want the sweaty masses at their game any more. The very fans who made the league what it is, over the decades.

Here's a big "tell" example ... After the Raiders @ 49ers game where fights broke out ... owners son Jed York went on TV & said ... because of the 49ers lack of success & pre-season, the 49ers Season Ticket Holders sold their tickets cheap online ... this caused a large element of fans who normally can't afford to go to the game attend & they are too rowdy. (caused an uproar among the true fans & he tried to waffle, then he shut up & is away from the media.)

The dumby little-York is parroting what his owner-Daddy & the FO is discussing ... and you can see "tells" across the league that the owners strategy is to sell to biz & yuppies with money. If you've ever been in a city with a new stadium (in any sport) that goes to PSLs (Personal Seat Licenses) ... there's a huge difference in the crowd. Watch a pre-90s game in any sport & the fans are remarkably different than today.

i.e. You can see this clearly in Ross' statements & actions in his visions/ideas for his fans. Owners are out to get the money crowd & soak them on every element from parking ($75 cheapest in Dallas) to hot dogs ($10 in Detroit). IMHO, owners are content with the masses watching TV ... not willing to discount & let them fill the stands. (Owners try to block re-selling of tickets, even at discounted prices ... & had some success, but are largely blocked by law.)

Well I believe the Eagles are already sold out and the Jets on New Years day will be sold out. So there will be a few games not blacked out.

there's 8 home games. we have already had 2 (that were televised). that leaves 6. as kdawg said, the eagles and the jets will sell out (if they haven't already). if no other games sell out (and some probably will), that leaves us south floridians with 12 televised games and 4 blackouts. it would suck if there were actually 4 blackouts, but it could be much worse.

You make a good point, but there is a break-even point for tickets, and I am sure Ross is close to that already. Really, IMO the only thing that will fill the stadium is not ticket prices but a team that wont get embarrassed at home. For me, lower tickets prices will not entice me to buy them and go to the game because no amount of money is worth watching my team lose. Id rather pay 250/ticket and watch them win than pay 50/ticket and watch them lose. And when I do go to games I always get the prime row one seats right behind their bench - just saying I am willing to spend the cash if I think they are capable of winning.

Im from dc area and every paper or bulletin board has skins take over Mia with a 3 day package to game airfare all for 630 bucks. Everyone at work laughs saying there will be more skins fans down there then dolphins fans and they can chill on beach all day sat. We are just a laughing stock right now in all cities

Forget all this "fan experience" garbage & sideshow circus. Hey Ross, IF U WIN, WE WILL COME!!!!

Put a good product out there. Its not only that we are losing but we are boring too while doing it.

$630 is expensive for three days down there. I don't understand why any Skins fans here would assume they're going to outnumber actual Dolphins fans in November

You mean you don't go to see Carpenter attempt 6 field goals in a losing effort? Personally I go just to see Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.
