-Gus Frerotte is outperforming A.J. Feeley at this point. Although Feeley has the stronger arm and has shown flashes of brilliance, Frerotte is more consistent and more accurate. He also has the advantage of being familiar with the offensive system.

I'm confused, it seems the media guys saw a different AJ, than some of our fans who attended the mini camp this weekend. Now I do believe the team wasn't as sharp as a fan would like them to be, but this report and some others are way different than some reports on here. Are we looking at the team from a learning standpoint when reporting, or are we looking at the team from a, they should know everything by now and should be ready for the season standpoint? Then we base our reports on the latter. Do most of the team seem comfortable in the new schemes or not..My opinion by reading your reports and the media's reports are that the team is in a learning mode and making mistakes because they're still thinking and not reacting. Am I reading this wrong? :(

Another Camp report from the Weekend

Apparently Ronnie Brown wasn't impressive? I didn't hear that from any fans.

How in the world can you tell if a power RB looks impressive from a no-contact minicamp?

"Accountant James Meyers didn't look so good at number-crunching as he drove his Saab down I-5"

"From our perspective, Freddie Adu was unimpressive as he played foosball on Saturday"

I'm not surprised when Feeley took over last year. The talking heads on the tube mentioned Feeley had a above-average NFL arm.

Not to be flippant but I can't imagine the Eagle wasting a roster spot(developmental QB) on a guy who didn't have a NFL quality arm.

Standpoint, don't use that word!

It's way, way to early to tell anything about any player besides if they look like they are in shape, and how they look in Aqua and coral!

None of the QB's were impressive, I was there sat and sunday. they all had plenty of faults

Ronnie was just fine, exactly what you expect from a #2 draft pick. The defense practices on the close feild, so it is nearly impossible till 7 on 7 and situational drills to even tell how the offense is doing. There are two feilds sisde by side the offense practices on teh far field and the Def practices on teh close feild (for the most part). So 90% of the time all of the fans were observing defense. IT WAS AMAZING, a ton of good news on the Def front. Since we only saw the offense CLEARLY in the drills, it was easy to see who had what and who didn't, None of them are ready for the season yet NONE OF THEM!!!!!!! That includes the reciving corp as well, the running game is going to be fine with or without ricky. But remember this is light contact, no pads. So it all means squat just interesting to see who's doing what.

I think the upside on AJ is huge and the downside is there as well but less of that. We have seen him at his worst (no Oline, no running game, first year in a new system, etc.). With all he did and considering the circumstances combined with his arm and abilities, I would say his potential is high.

The media gets little if any respect from me. All they care about is selling papers and have always given an exaggerated opinion when reporting. I'll believe a fan 9 out of 10 times over the press!! All we can do is form an opinion based on our own ability to seperate truth from fiction. The difference I think is some people believe everything they read and thats when news gets blown out of proportion. When it comes to reporting I'm middle of the road, I neither blieve or disbelieve. I have to see things with my own eyes to believe it.

ANyone who wants Ferrote to be our starting QB is on crack. Have none of you guys followed this guys carreer at all? It's like we just got excited to get Feidler back or something.:shakeno:

As much as I appreciate Migs and his amateur reporting, keep in mind that miamifootball365.com is operated by Migs from this here message board (columnist, I believe he's a mod as well).

His site is 100% commentary. He does offer up some interviews that he gets on his own every now and then, and it is possible that he may even have gone to a mini-camp or two this weekend, but his primary source of information are what actual sports writers have already said and written.

As such, I believe he's prone to mistakes. For instance, I believe he exaggerated Saban's statement that he would like to see more assertiveness from Ronnie Brown, into his statement saying "Ronnie Brown has not looked impressive"

I also believe that "flashes of brilliance" statement was his own choice, but not based on actual observation by him or anyone who has watched Feeley at camp. Most likely he took the term from an article discussing AJ Feeley's performance in late 2004.

I do not mean to denounce Migs' work or anything, I understand what he is trying to do, however, his work should be considered mostly commentary with the understanding that much of it is not firsthand observation.

Hey CK, I didn't realized that was Mig's stuff...He does generally attend the MC's and TC's. The one time he didn't and still wrote a report, we know what happened. His brillant comment is in keeping with a couple of reports that said AJ would throw a "what the hell" pass, and then come back with a "did you see that throw" kind of pass, so I'll give Mig some slack, he wasn't too far off base. Most Media types seem to follow his byline, to include some reports on this board...But there were a few reports here that absolutely dogged AJ out. But at the same time I'm reading receivers dropping balls, Saban's yelling at D. Bowens. D pissed because they allowed a long play, things which indicate to me that the team is still learning and nowhere near ready to see another professional football team, at least in the NFL, that is.

I guess we'll just have to disagree. I don't agree with using the words "flashes of brilliance" with any QB except Mike Vick, because unless you're talking about some kind of Brett Favre, Mike Vick, John Elway feat of strength where you duck multiple tacklers run around and zing off a laser off your back foot 40 yards downfield right on the money, quarterbacks can't show "flashes of brilliance" except in their consistency, which means "brilliance" can't really be measured in "flashes".

Again, I'd have to find out from Migs himself whether he actually attended these camps or not, but I would be surprised if he did.

What I was concerned with is posters are seeing what he wrote, and are taking like it was written by someone like Alex Marvez or Jason Cole. Migs didn't state at the top of the article that he went to the mini-camps, so I am a little confused...I think it's more likely he is reporting "word of mouth" type stuff, which is fine I really appreciate how he gives these updates on his site on what is going on in Dolphinsland, as kind of a summary of ALL media reports coming out from anywhere about the Phins. His site is very valuable that way.

flashes of brilliance?

That's real easy to do when you know you won't get hit. I'll wait to training camp and preseason to hold judgement.

Forget AJ, he'll be fine. Anyone else noticing Mare missing a few filed goals over the weekend? I'd be more concerned with him especially coming off his crap year.
