Florio: Dolphins have no shot at Manning

Manning has performed very well in post season regardless of your revisionist look at things. As far as I know he's the only QB to ever post a perfect QB rating in post season, 2003 vs Denver. He followed that up with a 138.7 QB rating against KC the next week. In 2004 he posted a 146 QBR, again against Denver. In 09 he posted a 124 QBR while throwing for 3 TDs against your Yets.

He's not the whole team. Indy's always been devoid of talent besides Manning. He's had a couple of nice pieces to work with here or there such as Clark, Freeny, Sanders etc but never a complete team. If Warner had to play on any one of those Indy teams he'd have never won a SB. Most knowledgeable football fans realize that without him, in almost any given year, Indy has been no more than a 5-6 win team at most (see 2011).

Now that we have gotten his 3 good postseason games out of the way can we discuss his postseason performance overall?

Most knowledgeable football fans undersatnd Indy wasn't going to be great this year and they had no QB when Manning went down so we don't put too much stock in their peformance w/o him this year.

Indy has always been one of the most talented teams in the league and the difference btw NE and Indy has been play at QB in January.

In 1999 Warner threw 8 TDs and 4 INTs in 3 postseason games, only one postseason did Peyton put up comparable Tds to INTs w/ 9 TDs and 4 INTs. The problem is the 4 INTs came in one game and gave his team no shot to win.

Kurt threw a GW TD in the SB to win in 1999, in 2001 he led his team back from a 14 pt 4th qtr deficit to tie the game late and in 2008 he led his team back from a 13 pt 4th qtr deficit to take a late lead. In Peyton's SB win he did nothing of significance and in his SB loss he threw the game ending INT for a TD.

Kurt Warner took the RAMS and CARDINALS to Super Bowls, let that sink in for a moment.

Kurt led his team to a playoff win in a game his D allowed 45 pts

In playoff losses Peyton has led his high powered O's to 14 PPG, in playoff losses Kurt led his high powered O's to 20 PPG

Kurt was 9-4 as a starter in postseason games. Prior to Kurt arriving in SL in 1999 the last time the Rams won a playoff game was 1989 and they have one playoff win(WC) since he left and SL has once again become one of the worst teams in the NFL like they were when Kurt took over.

In Arizona the Cardinals had ONE playoff win from 1948-2007, he led them to THREE in 2008 and their only SB trip and has 4 playoff wins w/ them overall(2 more than the franchise had in their history prior to Kurt). Once he left the Cards against became a joke of a franchise.

I get that you guys think you are getting Peyton so you have to defend him but look at the situation logically please. W/ Peyton '04 this offesne wouldn't be the '99 Rams and if you do get him you certainly aren't getting Peyton '04.

Oh and Kurt was one and done as a starter ONE time, Peyton an astounding SEVEN times.

Kurt has ZERO home playoff losses, Peyton has 4.

Kurt has never led his O to less than 11 pts, Peyton led his O to 3 and ZERO in 2 different playoff games.

What Florio fails to recognize the Dolphins are not going to be serious players in the RGIII scenario as the Rams don't want to drop into a spot they can't get Kalil or Blackmon. He also fails to give consideration to Peyton possibly wanting to stay in the AFC but not wanting to play in the same division as Eli.

I don't care if Florio dislikes the Dolphins but he makes himself out to be an idiot when he doesn't consider all viable options. Sometimes he is the equivalent of the National Enquirer of the NFL.

Overall he's got an 88+ QBR. Not terrible.

Indy wasn't going to be great this year w/o him true, but with him they're at least an 8 win team. Everyone understands that.

Indy hasn't been one of the most talented teams in the league since Johnny U played for them. 90% of their talent since then has been in Peyton's arm and under his helmet.

The real difference between NE and Indy has been the HC (and camera man).

Had Trent Green stayed healthy in STL he probably would have had similar success in that phenomenal system that Martz and Vermeil put in place. Hell, he was close in KC. He just lacked that little extra magic provided by Martz's play calling and a little help on D.

I get that you think we're getting Peyton and therefore must attempt to tear apart one of the all time greats to the best of your ability. You just can't convince anyone, except possibly the diluted few Sancheeze backers, that he's anything but an all-time great. Sorry.

I like Kurt Warner. Dude was fantastic. I cheered as loud as anyone when he played. But are you telling me that if the draft were today and Peyton and Kurt were both up for grabs with the #1 pick, you'd take Kurt Warner?
