Florio: Ross' best play at this point is to sell the team

Does anyone else here agree with me that no matter what happened, the story this morning would be "Ross screws up again?"

You know that if we landed Fisher everyone would be slamming Ross for giving him total control and being 'fickle' and casting Ireland aside. And if we had simply broken off negotiations with Fisher and moved on, I'm sure Ross would be slammed for 'failing to try to get the best candidate on the market.'

Florio in particular has been fiercely critical of Dolphins management since Pat White got pushed out the door.
100% agreed....its sad that we can't see this as fans. But the media in general is creating a discension between us and putting us against every move made

Funny if Florio would have said the Dolphins were right to not give into Capt. Mediocrity this would be a thread of praise.

You do know don't you that Florio is a former shyster lawyer who likely couldn't cut it and decided to reinvent himself, eh? Dime a dozen lawyers, some of who in this economy are baggers at Publix. His opinion has about as much traction as Michelle Ryan's on the virtues of monogamy. :idk:

As far as Mangina, no thanks I hope to holy hell not, but if by the remote chance we hired him, there's always the "...but, but..but Belicheat failed in Cleveland and look at him now..." (anomalies trumps rules) card to play similar to the one by those who defended Fisher's mediocrity. So there's always a silver lining.

IMO, the more likely scenario would be Florio ranting about how dumb Ross was to acquiesce to the demands of an unproven coach when it comes to personnel.

It probably would be, but Florio wouldn't say that. He will write glowing articles about the Rooneys and how it's not really an issue that they are breaking NFL rules by having interests in gambling enterprises while owning the Steelers, but Steve Ross keeps negotiations open even though he won't cave to Jeff Fisher on one specific issue that he feels is critical? What a buffoon! What a horrible owner! He should sell the team!

Florio is one exception where it's more than appropriate to 'shoot the messenger' !

There are three national media outlet guys who I find to be very transparent with axes to grind against the Dolphins:

Florio, Marvez and Jason Cole. Marvez and Cole are former Dolphins beat writers who for whatever reason are either bitter about their time here or just got a bad taste in their mouth from being around the team so much. I believe Jason Cole was the guy who was caught high-fiving Armando Salguero outside the press box after a Dolphins loss several years ago.

Peter King is a slobbering Belichick/Brady sycophant but even he seems to be a little bit more objective.

I'm with all of you guy's ... I'm tired of the all these Media types ridiculing, criticizing and bemoaning the Dolphins and Ross ... quite frankly the only thing Ross has done wrong IMO; was chase Harbaugh with Sparano still Head Coach!!! Most people forget he owned the USFL Stars and was quite successful ... so it's not like he doesn't know how to run a sports franchise ...He seems to have learned a hard lesson from last season and looks to have done everything possible to do things RIGHT this year ... It amazes me how so many people speculate on what may or may not have been said or transpired between Ross and Fisher or anyone else for that matter ... but this man takes all kinds of barbs from fans and media alike for what is perceived as doing something wrong by their account ... simply amazing!!! How in the world would making Fisher the Complete Voice and Final Say have been any good for the Dolphins? Hasn't the past taught anything to these critics? Florio, LaCanfora and anyone else throwing BS, can Chit the Pine for all I care ... having a GM with an eye for talent is more important than what these media guy's have to say!!! Ross did right by his team ... Let Fisher go build the Rams into an perennial 8-8 team, and leave my beloved team alone!!!

If you don't think that 'respected' NFL Insiders for major media outlets don't have agendas to advance, let me direct you to this deplorable hit piece on Mark Davis that was penned by Michael Silver of Yahoo Sports. This is one of the most contemptible, speculative and libelous pieces of journalism I've ever seen in sports.

Michael Silver is a close friend of recently fired Raiders head coach Hue Jackson. No agenda there, right?

Meh! Unproven coach unproven gm either way we are screwed. The structure issue should have been known from the beginning why it took 2 weeks who really knows. Not like we will ever be told the real truth.

To me, this is a make or break year for Ireland. If we don't either find a solution at QB, or draft one in the first round (probably via trade up) he shouldn't get any more second chances. The team that will be on the field next year is 4 off season's worth of Jeff Ireland's "talent", if we have another piss poor year there are no more excuses UNLESS we play a rookie QB for 16 games and he shows some promise in losing efforts.

Ummm not sure what you are getting at here he states it his opinion. Reporters do write opinion pieces. Al Davis belittled and abused everyone so why is it a surprise the kid wants a clean slate with people who respect and are loyal to him?

It's a speculative hatchet piece chock full of unnamed sources penned just days after a close friend of the writer was fired by the person being attacked in the piece.

All I'm saying is, these guys write agenda driven hit pieces all the time.

The media continues to do a brutal job at covering this story. The Dolphins wanted Ireland over Fisher it wasnt that the Phins got rejected.

Ross has a vision and a plan for his team it may or may not work but that vision wasnt shared by Fisher or he would have signed end of story.
