Got a small rant...

I get a bit peeved when a large % of the fanbase continually bag the FO for the decisions they do or do not make in relation to coaching, players, drafts etc.

Last year, most of the fanbase were ticked off at the poor job the Henning did. And rightly so. He basically handcuffed our qb for most of the year, and almost ever game, whenever henne got on a bit of a roll, pulled him from the game or called a stupid play.

So, what does the FO do? Well, Henning retires...or was asked to retire, and they bring in an OC from Cleveland. We have a OC that is 35 years younger, more than likely a lot more aggressive & has a better grasp on current day football. And still a lot of the fanbase are not happy. It would be nice too see Daboll actually get a fair crack at this position before he gets thrown under a bus. But our fanbase wont allow that. He sucks already because he was..(a) From Cleveland. (b) Not a big name co-ordinator. (c) Co-Ordinated an offence that was slightly worse than ours.

We then get rid of David Lee. That made me happy. He did nothing with the qb's that he had apart from Pennington, ad Chad P knew football. But he didnt make a lot of progress in the development of our QB's. Henne struggles, 90% of the fanbase blame him, but really, a crap OC, porous OLine, terrible position coaching and game day decisions all contributed to hennes below average season. But the fanbase blame Henne. Pat White was a terrible pick, and did nothing to help the team. Perhaps the QB coaching was more to blame than White. Perhaps. Same can be said for Beck, and any other QB that has come through this team in the past few year.

Next. Parcells heads off. Some say great, probably most of the fanbase. Personally, I thought he was a great asset to the team as he turned over a crap roster into one of the youngest and one that has a hell of a lot of potential. So Ireland takes over, and as he has dallas cowboy heritage, he is hated already. His draft (with Parcells) last year picked up a few starters, and a few backups. injuries played there part with Odrick, Edds etc, but overall it wasnt a bad draft. This years draft on paper filled a few issues that we had last year - C & RB, and we all know that we cant cure a teams issues with one or two drafts. Well, level headed fans know this, but most here blew up deluxe when Mallett was passed over. Mallett IMO will not a be a starting QB in this league whilst Brady still has two good knees. If he was so good, he would have gone in the 2nd round at the latest. So, give Ireland a chance at his 1st draft as the GM.

So then, onto the players. Henne is on the hot seat no doubt. The FO doesnt draft a qb, doesnt trade for one (yet) so they must have some line of thought that Henne should be given a decent shot with new position coaching & OC. I admit that I wouldnt mind having Orton here, but not to give up what Denver wanted originally.
Then the FO doesnt look at Braylon Edwards. And the fanbase go ballistic. The best FA WR available the fanbase scream. The same fanbase that ripped him for dropping passes as a Jet, as a Brown. But now all is forgiven. Because he is a FA. No thanks.

Then the team starts bringing in players to compete. Again the fanbase start thinking OMG, he surely that player cant be our starter. The end of the world is here. We bring in Colombo. We bring in Matt Moore. Brent Brackett. Micah Kia. Mark Restelli. Jason Trusnik. sure there not world beaters or all pro, but they are bought in to be backups, special teams and maybe start if absolutely necessary. But the fanbase want big name players. We sign Reggie Bush. Big name player who although wont be an every down back, bring speed to a position that hasnt had speed since...god knows when. Speed is something that cannot be coached, and he will bring more to the team than most think.

We sign Burnett to take over from Crowder. Crowder was not a game changing player. Was not instinctive. Was slow. Did not get to the QB. Burnett does all that and a bit more. We also sign a couple of UDFA in Devlin & Grigsby who were a couple of the better UDFA's available. Wether or not they get any playing time only time will tell.

So. Where are we.

We are 1 week into a training camp, still 5 or so weeks from the 1st game, and at this stage, no one really knows who will be the starter at any of the O line positions. There are still plenty of players that will be bought in to TC, plenty more suggestions, rumours, media hype etc. It could be any one of 3 or 4 players, and possibly someone who isnt even on the team.

The same for the WR positions. Speed is something we now have. Hopefully we can use it.

In the end, the front office appears to be looking at a lot of players, and thats great, but the fan base - and plenty here, are not happy with some of the players that they are looking at. Well, guess what fans, your job is safe. The coaching staff are the ones that are looking to bolster the playing talent, and in turn, probably save there *** for a few more seasons.

Regardless of wether or not the players they look at are ex cowboys, ex lions, ex who ever, if the FO believe that they can still contribute in this league, then they will bring them in. The season is not won in August, and many teams are in the same position as us.

But are those fans as negative as Miami's fans?

Give this team, which is a fair bit different from last years team, a chance.

Not too much to ask is it.

Maybe we should create a separate forum for the countless threads scolding the fan base for not being happy with this regime.

It's not like the FO has not created this mediocrity and split amongst the fans.

It's an internet forum, you just gotta roll with it and accept the good with the bad.

While I agree with the OP. The purpose of a fan forum is to let the fanatics of the team vent, celebrate, examine, over-analyze everything this team does. It goes with the territory that some people are more pessimistic than others, but that's just the way it goes.

After big wins, we are all huge homers and big time fans where every player has the potential to be a pro bowler. I can't count the number of players who have donned a Dolphins jersey have had one good game, or one big play, that everyone has jumped on as our savior.

The pessimism you speak of is the result of years of losing. Year after year of no playoffs. In our one and only playoff appearance in a decade we were one and done.

Losing breeds negativity.

That being said.. none of us would be here if we weren't big fans of the dolphins. No fair-weather fan decides to join a message board and spends countless hours talking about their team. As armyfin stated earlier.. gotta take the good with the bad.

No one will be happy until we have a winning team, while I don't agree with chanting for A player on a different team or blasting our own players, I understand why they are going off like that, their impatient they're ready for a winning team, as am I.

I don't think it helped that we replaced our QB Coach with our WR Coach but I don't know how it's going to work out. I hope we see some improvement out of Henne but I am expecting Henne to be mediocre as I don't want to get my hopes high and then see them tumble. I'd like to see if Moore and Devlin can push Henne aswell.

I think the main reason the hate for Parcells was the love for corn-fed lineman, we've gotten 1 great lineman out of all the drafts that we've picked, I think the past 2 drafts have been more of Ireland drafting then it was Parcells drafting. I'm excited to see what Ireland can do on his own and make this team a contender, I'm glad on the trade for Reggie Bush as it adds explosiveness to a very slow team and I feel the Gates pick and the Jimmy Wilson picks were great picks deep in the draft and were glad we got these guys.

I hope this team can go far but I know this team isn't expected to.

Some people tend to ***** and be negative about most everything in life...that bleeds into their football team's dealings too. Some are positive for the most part and that shows in their opinions of their team too. It's human nature, some people *****, some are optimistic and would rather have hope. Each are still fans.
I tend to like to keep my glass half full.

My problem is the chanting and booing at the practices. I think thats y Tony moved the practice yesterday to the far field so the players dont get bothered by our classless fan base. I dont blame him. We as fans r the ones to blame if he keeps doing that. We can rant and boo and rave on here all we want but to do it at a pratice is just dumb.

Great. Here we go again. "Blindly support every decision, move and player on your team regardless of logical reason, else you aren't a true fan". I understand the guys that want to believe that the FO 100% know what they are doing and that coaches and players have a lot more potential than they show us every year. I also understand (not necessarily agree) with those fans that boo Henne in practice and call for somebody else. And I understand fans that have been around as long as I (or longer) that have seen this franchise struggle for decades with sub-par coaches, players and front offices that keep making major mistakes in decision-making, and are fed up with it. I don't question the integrity or fan-dom of any of these people because their opinions are different than mine regarding how we get there. Just the fact, that we are all Phin fans and want the same thing should be respected. So let people talk about the good, the bad and the ugly . . . . . that's what we are here at this site for. We all cheer for the same team every week regardless.

Last year, most of the fanbase were ticked off at the poor job the Henning did. And rightly so. He basically handcuffed our qb for most of the year, and almost ever game, whenever henne got on a bit of a roll, pulled him from the game or called a stupid play.
Ever think the QB was handcuffed because he isnt very good? Henning is gone and if you watch practice Henne is still throwing the ball in the dirt or over his receivers heads.

We bring in Matt Moore.
This is why the fans are booing. We just had an entire off season of M.orano telling us that he would bring in a QB to compete with Henne. There would be a QB competition and the best QB would play and Matt Freaking Moore is who they bring in? We were told that there would be a competition and we were lied to. We were lied to in the same fashion Saban lied to us. They looked us in the eye and said we will bring in a QB that will push Henne for his job, and they did not. And unlike Saban, these 2 didn't slink away like rats, they just stood there and looked at us and told us to take it and be fans. They are going to go with their guy hook or crook and they do not care what we think. and the fans are pissed because of it.

So Sporano has been tinkering with the line for 3 years, completely destroyed it last year because he thought he could bring in lower priced players and they would be just as good as the previous line simply because he picked them. And now once again we have a cast off from the Cowboys and he comes tot he dolphins because Sporano and Ireland take people they know 9 times out of 10.

Give this team, which is a fair bit different from last years team, a chance.

Not too much to ask is it.

I have been giving this team a chance since 2000 and they havent gotten it right since #13 left and even then they didnt win a playoff game other than a wild card since Don Shula left. I am tired of giving people chances. I want to win, but i want to win a real playoff game and this front office cant go a game without a 12 men on the field penalty so i highly doubt they would know what to do in the playoffs...

I think the daily threads scolding the fans have officially out numbered the Marshall to Miami threads last off season. I set the over under today at 7 ;-)

Oh yeah and Boooooooooo another thread telling people how to be fans Boooooooooo

Let me ask you a simple question.. you walk into McDonalds and order a hamburger.. The cook drops it on the ground several times because he doesnt have the coordination to balance it on the spatula... You make your complaint known to the store manager and the store owner.. yet nothing changes.. the cook is still dropping the burger..

Are you going to shut up and support the restaurant because its your favorite burger joint in the whole world.. or are you going to b*tch and complain until you get a competent cook in there?
