Follow Gruden during MNF

Why would gruden come back to coaching. He is making a crapload of money at espn. If the team he picks loses who cares he still gets paid and picks another one next week. Gruden is not coming back for the same reason marino doesn't try to run the fins front office. The job he has now makes him just as much money without all the stress.

This is his quote from 3 weeks ago.

While Gruden’s career as a broadcaster has been successful, he doesn’t deny that he would like to coach again.

“I haven’t lost a game in 3½ years,” he said. “But no, I would like to give coaching one more try.”

I've never heard Gruden go negative on a coach or player until last Monday. He was really hard on the coaches for allowing the situation to happen. Granted the story has changed since then, but I don't think ESPN's narrative has changed.

I don't think you can read anything into what he says tonight. I also think that he would come to Miami if (a) he likes Tannehill as much as he seemed to in that pre-draft QB show (b) Ross brings him a blank check.

I actually prefer Gruden to a guy like Cowher. At least his offense would be WCO and the QB wouldn't be starting over.

Why does everyone keep wanting him or any former HC. How many HC have one super bowls with atleast 2 different teams? Jeff Fisher, enough said....

For some, coaching is not about money, but about ego and proving you can win....even if Gruden is comfortable in his ESPN gig, it doesn't mean he doesn't still have that desire to prove he can still coach in the NFL.

As for firings....without a doubt Ireland deserves it and if Philbin is a casualty to the the purge of Ireland...so be it.

Burden, Cowher and Dungy aren't coming back. Life is to good broadcasting.

Gruden has a ring and a very good job. Why would he expose himself to the pressure and criticism of the NFL again?

BAsed on what?

Or did you mean to say Cowher and Dungy are not coming back to coaching? Since both Coher and Dungy flat out said they were done and Gruden hasnt.
Gruden is not coming back to coaching.

btw, people do realize that Gruden turned down any offers not just from miami but other teams as well. He is enjoying his gig at ESPN immensely and is under no pressure so if you hear him say he feels for everyone involved, he pretty much feels pretty bad for all involved.

He never got any offers from Miami (that were publicly comunicated anyways) the only offers I heard him getting were that of the college teams. I do not recall him ever being offered another NFL gig.

Would you give up what Gruden has at ESPN? He is happy with what he is doing, I don't think he goes back to the stress of coaching. And what makes Miami so appealing for him to go there? BTW, you have a coach right now, I don't think he gets fired, Ireland on the other hand...

I wonder what (on average) someone like Gruden gets paid and how much time does he spend a week prepping, etc, VS. the time and pay he'd get as a head coach.
We all know the stress level for a head coach is insanely higher then his espn gig, but I wonder how the time/money compare.

I have no clue, but I'd imagine if he makes even 75% of a head coach at his espn gig, it's be well worth it.
Not spending 16hrs a day at work and not having anywhere near the same level of stress is huge.

I have a 10th cousin in an NFL leadership role (GM) and his grandfather told him that Jon Gruden was our man. Bank on it.

Lets see, John Fox recently underwent heart surgery and Gary Kubiak had a mini-stroke on the field.
Now why would a guy who screamed a ****load and was very intense on the sidelines, want to go back to a stress-filled job?
