For the LOVE of the GAME! Who would play.....for $35K

I think there would be quite a few people who would play football for 35k. It's just like teachers, police, fireman, and the military. None of those professions make much money but people still do them.

you know they get taxed almost half their pay right? So...... If you play for 35k, your looking at a little over 17K!

Plus all the off season work you gotta put into and the injuries... $ 500,000 at least!

You do know we have a progressive tax system... don't you?

It think you are missing the point, so I will explain it better. It's a relatively EASY decision to play football for millions of dollars, to get beat up week in and week out. But for millions of $$$ OK. BUT what if the NFL didn't pay the Millions, like the Old Days of the NFL? How many of today's players would STILL want to be NFL players if they were NOT paid Millions of dollars? That is, which NFL players SO LOVE the GAME that they would play no matter how much they were paid.

Anyone saying that they would play for little or nothing obvioiusly has no clue what it takes to play the game of football from a physical standpoint. I get tired of hearing people say players should be happy that they get to play a "game" for a living and make millions when the truth of the matter is, the "Game" that they're playing is 1000 times more physically demanding than pretty much any other manual labor type occupation in existance. You rarely hear of a roofer getting paralyzed from the neck down or a plumber tearing an ACL from fixing a toilet. I work in IT and I Love what I do but if they told me that I would have to do this for 20K per year I'd find something else to do, and my job is not physically demanding at all.

I would play for 35 k , the rest of the year I would get a part time job..Could still make 50 k a year..not a bad living for playing a game.

I'm 24 yrs old - I live on Long Island and I'm on pace to make about 80k this yr. (Stock broker - commission based) I can barely save anything with what I'm making now, 35k is nothing, you can't live on that if you have real bills. (Rent, utilities, car insurance, car, gas, DEBT, STUDENT LOANS etc)
Football players get paid millions to do what they do because that's what the market dictates. Unfortunately, millions of ppl aren't willing to pay lots of money to watch me manage money, a carpenter cut wood, or a truck driver drive his fat *** around all day. This is capitalism - you get paid what the market dictates. It is NOT fair, it is bull****, if you don't like it vote for ****in Ralph Nader... Not such a bad idea rly.

Really, I'mma student and I'm surviving just fine off 25k...Ramen noodles and Peanut butter sandwiches are getting rather old though. Ofcourse the huge pay raise when I graduate next year will be nice. Hell, I'd play for 35k and work at the Hospital for the rest of my time off, I'd still be banking!!

Sounds to me you should have planned ahead a little better with your money bro. Thats one hell of an expensive car you got there...and move if your going to complain about the expenses...GO FINS!!!

I'm from Mass, the cost of living is pretty high here too. I can tell you if I made 35K a year me, my wife and 3 kids would be living with my or my wifes parents, or mooching off the goverment which would probably mean we'd be doing quite well here in good ole Mass but that's another issue. I know there are cheaper parts of the country to live in but my family/home is here so I deal with it.

Yeah, 35K for the US is generally very, very little.

By comparison, down here in Mexico I make about $10K MXN a month (between the $7800 of my main job and some odd jobs here and there) which is just under 10K USD a year. That just about gives me for gas, food, cable (satellite actually) and cellphone service. I don't pay rent since I still live with my parents (something that's very common for people here). 35K goes a long way down here in Mexico, you can live pretty much without concern with that salary.
