For the record: We are going nowhere this season!!

This season is when all these players are going to start jelling together. It will be about 2-3 years before we will be good enough to be competitive.

Remember this is practically a new team. They have to see how they will work. It will take some time, but when we do. We will once again have the DYASTY in our hands.

:peace:

we may not go anywhere, but i dont think it will be for lack of chemistry. Its all about the QB

For anybody who thinks that we can't compete right away, all you really need to do is check out these numbers:

In 1998 the Rams finished 4-12(Gee, that record sounds familiar ;) ) and the very next year finished 13-3 and won the Super Bowl.

In 1999 the New England Patriots finished 5-11 and the following year finished 11-5 and won the Super Bowl.

In 1998 the Indianapolis Colts finished 3-13, the next year that finished 13-3.

In 2003 the San Diego Chargers finished 4-12(Man that record keeps sounding familiar) and the next year finished 12-4.

And that's only covering the last seven years. So as one can see it's happened before. Will it happen again with the Dolphins? Probably not, but there is absolutely no good reason for a team not to think of the present without sacraficing the future, something that I am impressed in how Saban seems to fully understand.

A perfect example is the signing of Lance Schulters to help our depleted secondary. Schulters was hoping to get a contract as big as the one in had with the Titans but Saban was wily enough to know that there really is not much of a market for 30 year old safeties who have just come off a injury filled season. So Saban waited till Schulters finally came back to earth and signed him to a lone year contract at minimal cost and in turn got a quality safety who can go a long way to bringing stability to an area of our team that is a MAJOR concern.

Ridiculous. 3 yrs is an eternity in the NFL. The Pats plug in players every year. The Pats that won the SB last year had a lot of different faces than the one that won 4 yrs ago.
Coaching is what gives you the winning edge.:)

Last I checked we weren't the Pats brother......... Lemme tell ya somethin', people need to stop riding that whole Pats thing. There's only one Patriots squad brother.

Did I say we were? I was merely pointing out that it doen't take 3 yrs to "gel" in the NFL.
Most teams retool every offseason.
Sabans acquisitions this offseason, including the recently acquired OG Middleton suggest a desire to win now. Not 3 yrs from now.

we have the toughest schedule this year but I say 10-6 this year. We made some really good moves this year and I'm excited for the season to start monday.

jl, I did see Moore at UT and he was average at best. If the coaches wanted him so badly, we could have gotten him in the 7th round. At our spot, we could have gotten Anquan Boldin, Tyrone Calico (who I expect to be really good), Chris Simms, and countless other much better players.

Brees was a great QB at Purdue and we had Fiedler at the time. We also had Madison (in his prime) and Surtain at CB. Anyone with any sort of basic reasoning skills can see who to pick.

This here is kinda funny
Boston was injured last season, so by your standards any new player that is traded for a draft pick or any draft pick who gets injured is a wasted pick. I guess Dan Morgan was a wasted pick for the Panthers, seeing as he was lost for the season his rookie year.

I've posted 3 times and you're already assuming you know everything about me. All I said is that Boston hasn't done anything YET. I expect great things out of him, but he still hasn't done anything as a Phin....YET. If his foot is good to go, he'll be a beast for us. At the least, he'll be a good tackler if we decide to go with Feeley and his INTs.

btw, I'm a Cane fan and I'd never crack on Morgan.

I fel the same away about Boston. He has all the potential, but lets see him make the field on opening day, that is my concern is his injuries.

so you registered just to give us your doomsday outlook for these season.

we will go 11-5 and get a wc spot this year.

None of those teams had new coaches across the board and new offensive and defensive systems.
Also, the Pats went 5-11 in 2000 and 11-5 in 2001, both years under Belichek

Brother, it's just the fact that many of you keep bringing the Patriots up. The NFL is definately a copycat league, but not results-wise. Brother there's always a team who finds a new way to win and then the whole league tries to do it rarely, if ever, with the same results. Lemme tell you somethin', I just personally feel bringing up the Pats all the time holds no water.....it's like saying we can win with a west coast offense because the Niners did it in the 80's and 90's.

Tree indeed brother! Dare I say there's an odor of "expansion team" when it comes to our Fins this year? Not saying they're one, but with all the new players and new coaches it's definately close enough to one brother!

by the way, I dont know about this DYASTY you speak of, but we will have a dynasty on our hands with sir Ronnie Brown becoming the next Tomlinson. Along with our new QB next year. And future probowl corner Poole, LB Crowder, and wide receiving corps that other teams drool over.......Oh yes we will rule....
