For those so quick to start the Ireland, hicky debate. ..

I'll tell you something Ireland was good at, getting quality contributors in the late rounds of the draft.

Rishard Matthews
Clay
Wilson
Carrol
Reshad Jones
Clemons

All 5th rd or later. Now, if he was just as good in the first 4 rounds he'd still be here.

Ireland has done more harm than good for Miami. Forget about the fact that each offseason is a 1 step forward, 2 steps back; just look at all the events that have transpired in the past 4-5 years. Players who were swiftly let go saying they felt snubbed from the organization. Character-concern individuals being brought aboard, and all the bad press that's gotten the Dolphins. Coaches saying they didn't get the players they needed, and would have opted for other selections in the draft/FA.

If Ireland was a humbled GM that treated his team's coaches and players with the utmost respect, and it just never panned out year after year, I'd look the other way, but Ireland definitely has made the bed he now resides in, and that's an unprofessional ex-GM.

Hickey is better simply becuase we have a chance of not going 7-9 or 8-8. With Ireland there was nothing you can say that could back up that chance becuase that's what we always did under his watch. Don't give me 2008 either that was Parcells influence and Chad Pennington falling from the sky.

Over 6 years Jeff Ireland wasted a ton of salary cap, picks, and had multiple incidents of unprofessional conduct; he also threw a temper tantrum on his way out. Why anyone would want to defend the guy about anything confounds me. Anyone know if he got hired to another position in the league? I dont think his buddies in Dallas would bring him back, seeing how he called one of their best player's mom a prostitute and that whole Sparano situation.

6 years and only 1 winning season, and he still has supporters months after he was fired? Very sad.

I see one difference. They said they would resign Grimes and not franchise tag him. Ireland would have franchise tagged him anyways. Hickey got him a good deal and made him feel welcomed. Both sides got what they wanted. I feel Hickey has a more likable personality.

I can't judge a person by what you think he would have done. But I agree with the likeable thing, though Miko said they came because of Ireland. But other than all that, I'm loving this offseason!

"dude, show some class...dont 'kid' me because my opinion differs from yours. I'm probably twice your age."

Seriously son, That is the dumbest comment I've seen on here for about 4 years.... I'm probably twice your age, what are you 26-30? No reason for you're offensive comment, I stated what Ireland stated, you defended him and blew it our of context. A typical childish thing to do, showed your age pumpkin. Now settle down and acknowledge that Ireland was the fool.

Not to mention the bad deals buying then selling Brandon Marshall. No GM is perfect but Jeff Ireland had his share of misses while swinging for the fences.
