Forget blaming Wanny how about????

Realism is a virtue adopted by those who anticipate failure. We're fans, not stockmarket analysts. Our job is to have fun and nurture the hope that on each Sunday our team will treat us to a bounty of excitement. Now, enough of the psycho-babble stuff.

Amen! Can I get a witness!

I have a question for you "realistic" people. What is your in-game demeanor? If we score during the first quarter are you like "oh well it's only the first quarter, the other team is a very good team and can realistically come back." And, if we win, are you like "well its only the first game, i still dont think we'll make the playoffs because we are a bad team"? Or is it "oh we got lucky, you are still the better team than us".
Are you thinking about next year's draft as we are trying to lead a fourth quarter comeback in a huge game?

Oh well, at least it preserves your voice, right?

I am starting to agree with ohall that there are dolphin fans and dolphin critics.
In answer to all your questions.... depends on who the opponent is? If its NE for example, then YES I am thinking ALL of the above! Regardless of the opponent though I always cheer, high five my buddies and act like a complete idiot when we score.

Just cause I am realistic in my expectations for this team doesn't mean I am not a FAN! It means that I take off my Aqua glasses see this team for what it is... a team that has been on the DECLINE for 3 or more years. A team that went from a playoff emabrassment with JJ to no playoffs with Wanny and culminating in a 4-12 season. We may have reason for optimism in the coming years since I think Saban is doing a great job so far, but currently this team will have to play almost flawlessly to win more than 8 games this season, considering it plays the toughest schedule in the NFL. Those who are predicting a 12-4 season are NOT realistic. We probably lose 4 games within our division alone!

What is with this crap about aqua and orange glasses? I am really getting tired of people making that stupid metaphor. I cheer for my team PERIOD. YOU KNOW I AM PROUD OF WEARING AQUA AND ORANGE. One thing is to be realistic, the next thing is to attempt to insult people who are a little more optimisic about THEIR OWN TEAM. So I dont consider "wearing aqua and orange glasses" insulting. You people take "realism" way to far.

If you are really afraid to be dissapointed, then predict 0-16... hey at least if we win at least once you wont be dissapointed! Every win would be better than the next! :rofl3:

Here's what I don't understand.

So where is the cause for all this doom & gloom? The only thing that really changed from the 2003 & 2004 season was the o-line. (Not Ricky, he wouldn't have any running room anywhere last year.) And that caused a 6-win difference. The line will be better this year, we've already seen shades of improvement.

Why then all these losing record predictions?

The QB position will improve no matter who starts.

we werent really a 4-12 team last year... we just got every bad break possible.
Being that we have a muuuuuuuch better coaching staff, and we have better depth all around except maybe corner. So I'd expect us to be above .500

Ok look at it this way under Dave Wanstadt we had a winng record a pretty good one if I'm not mistaken. I even remember him being compared to Andy Reed as far as a winning record what a joke but it was pretty true. Every December we always forgot what to do we were horrible in December. No matter what you think we had in the past it wasn't enough to even put us in the playoffs. Now fastforward to present. No QB, Surtain became a cap casulity we have no one to replace him our o-line couldn't block a pee wee team again no depth. So you see we weren't as well off despite our record a couple of years ago. Records can be blinding sometimes. Let's breakdown those records. It's very easy to be 10-6 and still not be a good football team. For example the 10 wins could have been against subpar teams plus you may steal a game here or there. I remember a good example we beat Denver on a Monday night and got crushed by Denver in a Playoff game that same year. The 6 losses could have been against good to great teams. It's very easy to be fooled. Our past bad draft days are now haunting us and years of bad drafting will take some time to fix. Saban has his hands filled with crap but, listening to him and watching this team progress just in the 2 preseason games is enough to tell me he will get this done and win many coach of the year awards.

whats the point of going 7-9?

better to go 4-12 and get a higher first round draft pick.

This type of logic makes me proud to be a dolphin fan.

Yea were going to be bad this year. My outlook of 7-9 I am really debating if they'll even do that well. I am slipping to maybe 5-11. But as well noted in some of the other posters we have a lot of bad trades and descisions that were made by previous Coach and Pres. and let's not forget where it all started Jimmy Johnson from the ousting of Dan Marino to the hiring and eventual handoff to Wanny. So JJ deserves a good bit of the blame here if not most of it. Let's face it JJ hired him and if I'm not mistaking he groomed him for the head coach and convinced management he was fit to takeover after he destroyed this team and quit on us. Yes it'll take time and good drafting and FA pickups. I'll be surprised to get anywhere near a SB in 3 years. We need CB's and a QB to start. You have to wonder in 3 years will the Zach's and Jason's still be at the top of their game so we will need to address players like that. This will be a long process. There is a lot of fixing that needs to be done. i hope no bandaides are used. We need to build, build and build. Just as long as there is progress year to year and move in the right direction I'll be happy. I think you are looking at 5 years to win.

Who's the last Super Bowl winning team that took 5 years to build??????? People need to forget the old school BS way of thinking and realize in today's NFL things can happen much quicker.

Belichek won in NE in his 2nd year (horrible team in 2000)
Vermeil 2nd year (horrible team in 1998)
Gruden first year (OK the Bucs were already built)
Billick 2nd year (sub par team in 1999)

I know these guys had some talented players on their teams when they took over but so do we. I'm not saying Miami will definetly turn things around within 2 seasons and win a Super Bowl, so please don't put those words in my mouth but to think this is 1983 and it takes 5 or 6 years to build a team is ludicrous. It's all about picking the right players and having a good system not time.

I believe that the team will improve steadily over the course of this season. By the end of the season they will be winning games that they were "supposed" to loose. In the end, this team will be looking forward to the next season to build on what they will have accomplished.

That being said, my prediction will be 6-10 in 2005, and then they make the quantum leap to 10-6 in 2006. In 2007 they will be playing for a first round bye... it's only up from there.

You see the problem is you predict what you want to happen instead of being realistic about your approach. I bet if you were a bills or jets fans you'd say make the same prediction for each. The teams in our division and on our schedule are very good teams, and we have alot respect to earn until I dare say we're a good football team. I think our team will try hard every play of every game, and never give up. At the end of the day I dont think it's going to be good enough for more than 7 wins considering the talented teams we're playing against.
