Former #1 overall pick (a QB) available?

I don't see the harm in signing him to the minimum and looking at him. I know this: He is better than AJ Feeley.

but he hasnt done anything since he's been in the league..he sucks

Leaf was a #2, behind Manning. (But no. His playing days are long gone.)

Remember all the talk about Leaf going before Manning right before the draft.... WOW, would this be a diff league

He played for Cleveland. How can you prosper there? Maybe he just needs a new start.

Ya..I hear ya there. I was watching a ESPN classic the other day and they just kept saying "Oh if you have Ryan Leaf you'll never out of it"..blah blah..and Im thinking to myself..your so WRONG! How things change from College to Pro

I hope that Saban does bring Couch in for a workout. I believe that the reason that the Packers passed so quick was questions about the shoulder. I dont believe for a second that Couch cant compete at the NFL level. I also dont believe that he is a top notch QB. But really, how can you not give the guy a look? Forget the fact that he was a number one overall pick. That really dont mean anything. I look at the experience of being a starter (good and bad). He would be a good third QB as insurance.

God I thought we might actually make it through the pre-season before someone brought that washout's name out of the bucket. Guess I was wrong.

I look at it like this:

Tim Couch wouldn't be the answer this season, since he wouldn't be able to learn the offense in time to compete for the starting job (and that's IF his shoulder is ok). That means that we're looking at him as a future starter. I'd way rather use our first pick next year on a QB than bring in Couch and hope and pray that he'll do the job for us.

Trot him in along with the rest. What can it hurt?

I was on a job in Cleveland when he played there his second season. I'd NOT want him as our QB. If he got the nod, I think we could all agree the QB's on the roster now are really, really sub standard.

Lets just go with what we have this year and then take Leinart or Omar Jacobs next year. We don't need anymore over-the-hill retreads....lets start fresh with a young guy out of college who is not damaged goods. :)
