Former Dolphin D coach Todd Bowles > Kevin Coyle?

Bowles went to the Eagles last year and they had one of the worst defenses in the league and he got fired.

The two biggest problems I have with our defense is the inability to stop 3rd and long and Jimmy Wilson lining up against their best receiver. How does that happen?

The guy who was our interim coach when Sparano got fired. Remember him? Now he's the defensive coordinator for AZ, whose D has been very impressive this year. Is he better than Coyle? I don't know. The fact that Miami jettisoned him like trash without really self-scouting and determining merit in a logical process is yet another sickening addition to our recent, toxic legacy.
His dismissal was an afterthought in the knee-jerk firing of Sparano.

Miami fires more talent than they hire. Idiot city.
Todd Bowles is NOT the Defensive Coordinator for Arizona. Ray Horton is.

The Fins D is on pace for most INTs and sacks in the last decade...

I think Coyle has been amazing

Coyle has been amazing you say? Our Defense is ranked at the bottom half of the league and was in the middle of the pack last season. Under Mike Nolan our Defense was ranked in the Top 10 two seasons in a row. I don't mean to insult you, but how much football do you watch?

I like Coyle. Not only the increase in interceptions from the DB's, but the coverage overall is generally much better. Some bad spots here and there, I dunno how much you can really do with guys like Nolan Carroll and Jimmy Wilson sometimes...
I wish Jamar Taylor and Will Davis would see the field more.

I think our Run D took a hit though this year and has become inconsistent. I feel like this will improve as the LB's and D-Line get more back-to-back games being healthy, and Dion Jordan sees some more snaps.

Love Smith is not a good coach.

Based on what? He took his team to the Super Bowl and a couple of conference championship games. He's a coach players and other coaches respect.

You make a very good case for Lovie Smith. The reason I would pass over him his, I want an Offensive Minded HC and a Defensive Coordinator the employs a 3-4 Defense which is best suited for THIS team.

Ray Horton is the DC for the Browns. He USED to be the DC for the Cardinals. Todd Bowles is now the DC for the Cardinals.
Thank you for the correction. Really. That being said, the Cardinals are ranked in the 20s in Defense and Philly was pretty bad last year when Bowles was there. So how would Bowles be good for us?

Coyle has had one bad game plan and that was the Saints game. It's funny, while statistically we are a worse defense than we had been, IMO we have made more plays.

Again though, I do like Todd Bowles but he was never our DC. Both Pasqualoni and Nolan had strengths and weaknesses, as does Coyle. There are things to like and things not to like about him, but for the most part, in my opinion he has done a solid job.
