Former Dolphins scout threatening to sue the team after contract not renewed

Does anyone know if Sullivan was a W-2 employee or, more likely, a contract employee? A lot of this ADA legislation may not even apply if he wasn't a W-2 employee.

There is nothing illegal about it, but it indicates he was probably fired because his wife medical bills was increasing the healthcare premium Ross had to shell out each year and he didn't want to do it anymore....so he sent Hickey to him and cancel the arrangement they had knowing the guy was going to refuse and in turn lose his job.....Ross is a terrible person IMO and the reason we will have problems having a normal franchise in Miami....I hope he sells the team, losing confidence in him each day....

Ummm yeah there is something very illegal about that!

There is nothing quite like speculation is there?

Oh ffs we didn't even fire him....We didn't renew his contract that's a big difference

Are you serious? After 21 pages of disgust towards the dolphins, it turns out we didn't fire him, we just didn't renew his contract? WTF'ing F

If he was on a contract that we didn't honor, or an outright employee, that's one thing. But having it expire and electing not to renew, it becomes a no-brainer... at least legally. I do think as a PR gesture to show that although this former scout tried to strong-arm, extort and embarass the franchise despite having no contract, Ross should demonstate that the Fins are bigger than him by pre-paying the health policy for up to a year or until he gets covered elsewhere.

Good luck to him getting another nfl job after this

Its pretty clear now that he is using his wife's condition, the bullygate scandal, the medical insurance changes, his location, and everything he can think of to leverage a frivolous lawsuit against the Dolphins.

Yea Bringing Martin and Jones into it was just pathetic

Don't know if that was Sullivan's move or his attorney's.

I also like the fact she's lived with the illness since she was 2-years old and he moved 10 years ago so she could be close to her family, yet the attorney and the news article make it sound like shes on her death bed and he just wants to work from home so he can assist her.

It's just one embarrassment after another with this team

geez SKAPE, you need a little whine with that cheese?

whats exactly is embarrassing? the fact he was fired over not being able to do the tasks the team employed him to do or the lack of talent the scout have been giving us over there few decades?

i am disabled. permantly. motorcyle accident. construction accidents. 3 lower back surgeries. arthritic hips. chronic pain and diabetic neuropathy. i have blood clots that cause me to take blood thinners the rest of my life every night due to having lupus. my body makes to much blood and i have to get a big jug of blood drawn out of me once a month so i dont bust vessels in my head or suffer a heart attack because of the pressure on it from the access blood that has no way to go. the last goofus that rear ended me with his van caused me severe whiplash and i now suffer from almost daily migraines. but HEY! i cant complane!!! :)

my point in all that is i cant work a lot of the jobs i used to. having some of these issues keeps many employers from hiring me. and if they didnt know and then found out because i wasnt producing as i should, they would be in the right to fire me. i get it. i am not ambulatory, i still ride a bad azz harley davidson every day, walk my dog, go shooting and other things i like. i dont need someone being at home with me all the time and i have times when i probably should. i use a cane sometimes when things are testy but i am still able and willing to work. i played music most of my life and when things were thin [the disco era hurt live bands] or band broke up, i was an aircraft welder. if they looked around one day and said hey, anyone seen NRA, havnt seen him around. then the boss finds out i have been taking parts home to weld and showing up only to drop them off. then they realize that my parts count was off for what i took home, i wasnt there to do my stress test and other things, cut and clean my parts, etc.... then they end up coming to me and saying we are not getting the work out of you we have to have. its important to our clients that we give them parts that work, are inspected 3x, by you and 2 others, etc.. if someone falls out of the sky because of a faulty weld with no test sheet data, we are done. other guys have also had to pick up your slack.

well, i would understand that. i would. there are jobs i could get right now, good paying gigs, but it wouldnt be long untill my work would suffer and i wouldnt be able to keep the job. and suing them wouldnt be right!

i am sure the team feels awful for the guy, especially his wife. but biz is biz and the only way the team survives is if we have good players, aka, the scouts job!!! life kicks everyone in the jimmy, one way or another.

no one has shown me yet in this what kind of guy he is or what kind of worker. what his scouting record is. he may just very well suck!! hickey has been trimming the fat, churning the roster [as he should] and i imagine the staff and scouts are under the same reviews as the players have been. it his job to build the team and you have to do that with quality players and staff. end of story.

sorry SKAPE, but its not always "any way you slice it". sometimes that slice effects more than just one person and other careers and things have to be done. i dont think this scout has a bucket to pizz in on this law suit and hickey is doing the job HE has to do, what he was hired for. and i dont believe he did so with any malice.
