This may seem cold but it could be the situation went down like:
Scout: My wife is dying and she wants to be close to her family during this time, its in another city but I can do my work from there in the meantime.
Dolphins: Of course. Do what you need to do, very sorry for you and yours.
10 years later...
Dolphins: Well, technically speaking, everybody is dying......
I saw in another thread that the legal definition of "terminal" is two years, maybe the Dolphins agreed to this arrangement without realizing it could be for 30 years.
