SCOUTING REPORT: An interesting player to watch this season figures to be LB Donnie Spragan, who has become something of a late-bloomer in his career. Spragan, 28, basically spent his first two years after graduating from Stanford out of football because of injury and then had to work his way up from the practice squad in Denver. By last season, he was a starter. He now joins the Dolphins under a two-year contract with a hope to hit it big one last time. Spragan is exceptionally bright (he has an engineering degree). More important, he is exceptionally focused. He should easily be able to handle the changes required by the new defensive scheme and give the Dolphins a good anchor against the running game.

I didn't realize that he had graduated from Stanford with an Engineering Degree. This is one of the top Universities in the U.S. folks. Maybe they are right and that he will surprise us in a good way...I hope. :)

Edit: Just noticed that it was Jason Cole who wrote this...ugh. Oh well, maybe he's on to something.

Good read.Looks like we have a pretty deep LB corps

I am very excited about Donnie Spragan.

He was a great value addition.

I think our defense is going to be a lot different than in the past. We are going to have a nasty side to us this year.

What I like most about Donnie Spagran is he's known to be a smart player, he'll give us some nice depth at OLB (might even start a few games for us), he's pretty young, and most of all...we're getting value for his cheap salary. I believe it was a two year deal worth 1 million. Pretty good addition in my honest opinion.

I think Spragan is going to surprise a lot of people next year. He will be an upgrade over Morlon.

Dartmouth is a pretty good school too...can anyone remember a certain QB who went there? But seriously I hope Spragan can really come into his own here. By the end of the year we COULD have one of the most dominating LB units in the NFL

i dont know about best. id take Lewis, Boulware and Suggs any day but we could have a top 5-7 with Crowder, Thomas and is Spragan or Moore steps up but more realistically i woudl say like we would have about 10-15 range

Finfan, who made that double man block in your avi? Was it pope or Welker. What happened to Wes anyway is he still on the squad?

Could well be. All he has to be is competent and consistent in order to match Greenwood.

Spragan got a 2 year deal worth 1.9 million...

I really liked the potential we acquired with this acquisition...I think he could be a real steal.
