Fox Sports rips Fins Fans

The beach must've been holding a Halloween party last night.

The dolphins put on one hulleva halloween party last night. I saw a lot of cool costumes. My favorites were the ones that dressed up like sad bengals fans, oh wait , those weren't costumes. :boohoo:

They shouldn't need one, and the way they've been playing the last 15+ years they don't deserve one.

About 25+ other teams in the NFL have one. So it puts the Dolphins at a disadvantage.
There is such a fine line between winning and losing in the NFL (usually one score) so every team needs all the help they can get.

Our Dolphins don't get that help at home and it is troubling.

Thats how its been for 25 years, even when we had Marino we had regular blackouts. Its not out record, its just the fan base. We have a lot of casual fans, and not as many die-hards. But I'm grateful for the ones who did show up, they were making some noise at the end and we could hear it on our sets.

Those blackouts are a double edge sword. Back then when we had a blackout, then over 70,000 fans showed up to every game because they couldn't watch it at home. Now that tickets are constantly being bought out corporately, at least it gives the fans in south florida to watch from home no matter what. So pick your poison!

That Dolphin Bane mask is as bada$$ as it gets! I don't know if they showed that dude on TV, but everyone around me was talking about it.

The Bucs and the Jags aren't comparable. They have not been in the league as long nor do they have the history that this franchise has. This used to be a proud franchise and yes obviously when they were winning sell outs were a lot more common. But I don't think that the "casual" fan who may decide he would like to go instead of just watching at home lives close to that stadium. Most of the fans going drive a decent ways to go. This I'm sure deters a lot of fans who would go but would rather just stay home than drive the hour plus to get there. When I lived in Boca I had season tickets. A lot of my friends had and still have season tickets. Now that I live in Vero its a 2 1/2- 3 hour drive. That's just not happening every game so I go tp a couple. All I'm saying is most the fans live in broward or West Palm so if the stadium was in West Palm, tthere would be more people in the seats IMO. And please don't act like this is far fetched because its a well known fact

The Bucs and Jags aren't comparable? The Bucs have been around almost 40 years, and have won A Super Bowl more recently. The Jags have won playoff games more recently than the Dolphins, and it's not like they started playing yesterday, either. The entire state of Florida is made up of transplants, and immigrants. These people usually continue to root for their home team, or choose to root for other random teams, since they're not deeply rooted in the area they currently live in. That's why teams in all sports struggle to sellout, and West Palm Beach isn't gonna be the answer to all these problems.

The way they've run the organization the last decade + is what I find troubling.

Prime Time...yes, but I'd have to imagine some of the lack of attendance was due to families having Halloween plans.
You skip a Halloween with the family and you will surely get no treats from the wife!

My wife knows how important Dolphin games are to me. She knows better than to make any plans that include me when it comes to football season. **** Halloween.

The Cleveland Browns sell out every game and they're horrible and have been for decades. This isn't as much about a winning team as it is about the fact that stadium is in a dumpy location in a dumpy city. Lets be honest, there's not many middle class family's in Miami. Its mostly low income with wealthy mixed in. I strongly believe if you put that stadium in West Palm the games will sell out. Or at least north broward. I live in Vero and on my way to games it seems like 75% of the fans attending are on the turnpike with me.

I disagree. I have many friends and acquaintances in Broward and Palm beach county. These are the prime example of the folks that will not go. Money is not an issue for them. They much rather just stay home and watch the game on TV.
It's not a hard choice. Drinks by the pool and the big screen. This is why moving the stadium will do nothing but move the stadium. The so -called fans will still stay home. BLACK OUT!!!!!! Is the only way to get them in the stadium.

Fact? I would not like to drive that distance either. But the fans in you're area suck just as bad as the fans in N. Dade county.

No one will listen to you or to me on this subject. Of course black outs are undesirable. But the only way to get people to go. Make them choose. Drive far enough away to watch it in a bar or go. Many would decide to go. This is a fact.

Anyone who rips fans for not going to games doesn't understand economics. There is no demand for a live experience when TV is so good, when you'd rather take your kids trick-or-treating (they don't care about watching the Dolphins), and when there is 80% chance of paying for a disappointment.

Agreed. Then, there is the weather. Why go to a game when its always pleasant?

I had season tickets for University of Utah football during the Urban Meyer Era. both yrs, about this time, it got tedious, not to mention it sucks sitting in cold damp weather for 3 hrs. Its alot easier at home where pizza can be delivered and the soda is much cheaper.

p.s. I may not be the best opinion as I really am not a fan of crowded noisy places

Hang out with hot women in sexy costumes on South Beach or see a mediocre football team play. Easy decision right there.

I agree with you completely, I honestly don't care. I go to every game no matter what. It does get annoying as hell though, reading articles and posts about how bad fans are down here when they are home watching from their couches!

article speaks about the lack of Fans in the stadium. It was pathetic. I know it's easy for me to say but when I lived in south Florida I had season tickets and still go to 2-3 games a year even living in central Florida. You move that stadium to West Palm it's a sell out every night. That miami fan base is embarressing. I say the same thing every game. I was at the Baltimore game and it seemed like half the stadium were Ravens Fans. Last night the entire club level and 75% of the upper level was empty. And this was Prime Time game! You south Florida fans really need to start supporting this team.

Yeah, let's listen to the media and posters, from other city's. They know best. LOL

Any one know about the South Fla economy over the last 5 years? Guess not. The construction industry has been brought to it's knees, restaurants, and hotels are trying to survive, and the taxi cab drivers are in the same boat.

This is a large true fan base, and they just do not have the disposable income, too busy trying to make mortgage payments, paying bills, and feeding families.

By the standards of some, including this forum, they are not fans. Maybe they should be taking money to feed their kids or make a mortgage payment to go to a Dolphins game.

Those in the media, and this forum have no idea of what has happened here over the last 5 years. There are still many with money, who will go to games IF being there is an event.

Others are waiting to afford to go. True Story.

Who is they? We've had two different owners and many different regimes. It's not for lack of trying.
Not ever team finds success, sometimes it takes a little luck and patience.

The Los Angeles Great Whites, sounds pretty good to me!

"They" is everyone that's been in charge all these years. From the Huizenga years, all the way to the present. It may not be for lack of trying, but stupidity counts just the same.

Most these moves the owners have made were what the fans clamored for. It's our curse for pushing out Shula and Marino. You don't push two legends out the door and not pay the price.

Still doesn't change the fact that Miami has been a terrible place for home field advantage for about 10 years now. If the any Dolphins fans take offense to it or feel the need to defend that dubious title, then go to the games and make a difference.
