I wonder how many starters on the bills were drafted by them

Just like all good teams ... most of them. It doesn't work without a constant influx of cheap talent. Gotta be able to draft well.

People wonder when the fins playoff drought will end. They haven't drafted well since the late 60s/early 70s ... with a few year stretch with Jimmy J in the 90s. It's impossible to sustain a winning culture relying on free agency.

I count 17, if you consider Epenesa starting ahead of Bosa.
The Dolphins have 8, if you count UDFAs Kohou and Duck as starters.

Duck is not a starter yet until the season begins and he’s there, then Grier gets credit.

That is why I said "if". As of today, he is one of the first string corners on the depth chart.

Nobody can convince me that the plan is for either Duck or Cam or even KK to start at the corner opposite Ramsey. How can anybody do a mock and don't have us taking a CB real, real early, like #13. I've seen mocks where we dont take a corner until the 7th round. That's ridiculous. So either we have an offer on the table to one of these vet corners out there or we go CB early. Even with an early pick at CB, I wouldn't be happy with Ramsey and a bunch of unproven 1st and 2nd year guys.

Yes, but you can start a 3rd round guard or a 3rd round nose tackle. Pretty rare to be starting a mid round CB. Takes a bit for a rookie CB, even a top pick, to adjust to the NFL.

Maybe. But trenches will always be more important then a CB IMO.

We currently have 4 IDLs under contract. No other 3-4 team has less than 6. The Lions have 13 IDLs under contract right now. Most 3-4 teams have at least 9 currently signed. We need a lot more than one 3rd Round NT. In fact, the DE opposite Sieler is even more of a pressing need. We can get by starting Jones at NT, but Matt Dickerson opposite Sieler is not going to cut it.

One thing to remember is that some players will sign early to get the safe money, and some won't. To place all of the praise or blame on the GM is just too easy... and mostly wrong.

Sieler was willing to sign, Wilkins was not. that's how it goes sometimes.

Makes me think of Trevon Diggs tearing his ACL right after signing his contract.

Again, it's easier to get DL later in the draft than CB. DL is a rotation position. We have to have a quality CB.

Higher round picks are less likely to sign as they are more likely to get a second chance. A guy like Sieler who was a 7th rounder and a long shot to make a team let alone become a star are more likely to take the guaranteed money and sign early.

Name means a lot in the nfl. Some guys earn it and some guys live off of it. Even despite Steelers play I feel like he’s incredibly undervalued and appreciated.
