Free Agency Breaking News- NFL - Breaking News Thread 2025 Offseason

So he was a direct target, and you know McDaniel is the one deciding, wonder what traits he sees besides the physical tools…guy has all the talent in the world and I’m curious to see what he’s going to look like running our offense in preseason

I wonder if McDaniel scouted Wilson a lot before the 2021 draft. His friend, the lesser Lafleur brother, really liked Wilson's potential because of how well he performed in BYU's version of the West Coast offense and thought it would translate well to what the Jets with Lafleur as OC intended to do. Since SF took Lance one pick later, you'd reasonably conclude they also scouted Wilson extensively too, just in case the Jets decided on Lance.

McDaniel said in his recent press conference that he did watch every snap Wilson took in college back then. He felt that he would take a little longer to develop because he didn't have a lot of experience playing from an NFL pocket. He said he was launching the ball from 10 yards back when he was in BYU and would take a while to get used to playing in a phonebooth of an NFL pocket.

I'm happy we have Zach Wilson. It was a small risk at potentially a huge reward.

Jack Jones... not very good; has had off-field issues... and is due more money than he's probably worth.

Best guess... Raiders will release him and no one will make a waiver claim for him because of the salary.

After he passes through waivers, then you might make a vet minimum offer.

Saying he's had off field issues is being kind.

Update: Jones has been released

I don’t know much about him aside from the off the field issues. If he can be had for the minimum or close to it, it might be worth a punt especially if you’re banking on a rookie first or second round pick to come in and compete with Smith and Duck for starting boundary corner opposite Ramsey.

Aw c’mon what could possibly go wrong.
Tywreck could mentor him
