Union lawyer Jeff Kessler just said the owners must lockout the players by midnight or impose rules and start free agency.

They have to do something to keep the fans interested. Because every day that passes with a lock out means less and less fans.
A lot of stuff is going to be said over the next few days on the key issues, there is only one issue money. Both sides want more of it, its plain and simple.

Nubs, I don't think it is fully up to Doty. I think the owners can issue an "impass", and dictate rules if they decide to not lock out. It's really confusing and not sure how it could all work.

Lockout or not, owners do not have to sign any free agents if they don't want to.
