Fritz Pollard Alliance: Ray Farmer "mulling over" 2nd interview

Yep, plenty of these here:

The only interview so far that we really heard any feedback about was the guy from Tampa.

To any of the potential GMs being swayed by outside chatter you're probably not a good candidate anyway. If you let others influence your decisions then you don't have the conviction needed to be one of the better GMs in this league and we don't need you.

This is why all this talk about who's having second thoughts or who's being swayed away from the Fins doesn't bother me. All these people are just doing us the favor of sifting out the weak minded.

Just give it to Gaine and get on with it

Think about it this way. There are two options.

1. The Dolphins press release from a few weeks back is accurate and the job is being described clearly to everyone. The multiple reporters who have said the discussions of the power structure have been confusing -- to the point where candidates are calling each other asking for clarification -- are making it all up. Lies, damn lies and LaCanfora.

2. The Dolphins press release was not entirely accurate, or at best reflected intentions that then changed.

If you want to believe the Dolphins' press release go ahead. I don't.

You know I am not a fan of Ross. I think he is not a really good owner. But I also do try to stay in reality. Since I don't have the cash to buyout Ross and no other owner candidate is in sight I have to live with him as owner and criticize him when warranted . But I am also not willing to blame him for stuff where there is no reason to blame him or if the facts are contradicting.
I would believe #1 because for the Dolphins to come out with a statement like that but working differently behind the scenes would cause more damage than no statement at all.

But what else do the Dolphins have to do to quell rumors? This is a no-win situation for them. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

EDIT: I think you are trolling me. You are a tad to smart to buy into simple rumors.

And they won't. So if you want you can hide under a rock until they officially announce it or you can join in the Reading of the Tea Leaves like the rest of us.
Yep, TheWalrus and reading tea leaves?

Farmer has opted to stay with the Browns...Wow Dolphins.

I don't trust this report...

But if Farmer DOES turn down the interview to stay in a dumpster fire like Cleveland in a lower capacity... WHOo BoY!!! Do we have problems!

Exactly. I tried to tell people yesterday this is a straight up dumpster fire.

The Miami Oranges.

Maybe it has nothing to do with the media. Maybe these candidates put the tape on and watched someone play and realized they arent winning unless they can make a specific change.

If you mean getting rid of WVDolphan as a fan...I agree!

With all due respect Walrus but the only ones who created unclear power structures were some bloggers with Salguero taking the lead role.

The Dolphins always had the same power structure in place. People like Salguero who supported Ireland created the alternate reality in which Aponte was the reason Ireland got canned. That was extended into "the GM has to report to Aponte" because she was sitting in on interviews. And I do hope that Aponte sits in during GM candidate interviews. After all the new GM and her have to be in sync when it comes to player acquisitions and player contracts.

But the truth is that Ireland created enough reasons to get himself fired. First he tried to get Aponte fired because she put a foot down on his spending spree. Combine this (not working as a team) with his tenure of 6 years it was a warning sign. But what I believe tipped the scale in the last two weeks of the season was that Ireland talked trash about Philbin behind Philbin's back. A GM always has to work with the money side of the football operations and the coaches. He poisoned both working relationships. It was not Aponte who got him fired. It was Ireland who got himself fired.

The power structure was always the same: Ireland also reported to the CEO and Ross directly. The creation of the 'unclear power structure' was a creation of the lovely 'media'.

whatever dude. Aponte was in charge of spending or not spending anything. Ireland got completely smashed around the league for this spending when it was Aponte in charge of it.

You people want to continue the Ireland bashing and pretend there is nothing here but a smart women who is a cap genius, go ahead.

The truth is she has a lot of power. There is no answering to the boss without Aponte having the boss' ear over everyone else.

That is why this whole thing is dysfunctional. People are looking across the room and noticing her as someone who would use someone's bad reputation against them in order to cut them off. This narc crap about Ireland being caught talking about Philbin shouldn't really be a big deal except that she leaked that to the press herself. Which is why they now say Joe wanted Albert and Ireland didn't. also leaked.

So you people keep living in your liberal minded society where powerful people who knock other hated people off is some how ethical practice, well, this is the crap you get in the end. Its called Karma.

Walrus I really doubt its an issue of confusion.
No one would make a move like that over confusion.

There is something in the language of our GM role that he doesn't like or more accurately his benefactor Wooten who runs a managment course doesn't like. It is a power play to get that language changed before they sit down.

So I leave for a half hour and come back and it turns out he did pass on us over that confusion.

Soo... apology accepted? :idk:

Some rumors and reports have the stink of truth. Others don't.

This one did.

I am not even sure what you are trying to say.

Yup, I am just a gullible guppy eating up whatever the media sends my way!

I already said I don't buy this report, but IF it ends up coming true, it would speak to a clear problem in the organization.

Aren't you the same guy who thinks Fox News is a beacon of journalistic integrity?

It's beyond me how anyone gives this organization the benefit of the doubt after the cluster of massive screwups over the years.

Looks like you may be 100% right. I was listening to Omar on the radio and he's saying these candidates may have issues with Dawn Aponte and the possibility of answering to her. That was Ross's choice and therefore his fault.

You know that it is very unhealthy to insert a political opinion into a football discussion in an attempt to validate your opinion which is based on nothing but fiction.
You really have no proof for your scenario one way or another. On the other hand I have probably 31 other examples in the NFL who have the same or similar structures like the Dolphins. The only difference is that most of them are men. Now if I wanted to I could also throw a political statement in: you are probably only reacting this way towards Aponte because of your old fashion conservative views in which a woman is only good to carry, deliver and raise children and cook and a woman in power is a threat to mankind and family values. But we really don't want to go there otherwise this thread is being moved to the PoFo.

There is no dysfunction in the power structure. As much as you want to believe it to make yourself feel better it is not like that - liberal or not.

Spoke to John Wooten of Fritz Pollard Alliance. He spoke to Farmer 2 min. ago. Says he recommended to Farmer to interview with Dolphins.

Interesting. Nevertheless he said no. Should be interesting to read the post mortems on it.
