And Farmer was like, "why bother? If they can't be clear on the first interview with me or anyone else what kind of ****pots are going to be waiting for me once I'm a few months into this damn job?"

Wouldn't someone who's going to be an NFL GM someday already think to do that? Take the interview and ask questions. This makes me think he's ill prepared for things. If you're interested in a job, wouldn't you do some research and have some frigin question to ask those who are interviewing you? Sheesh.

To any of the potential GMs being swayed by outside chatter you're probably not a good candidate anyway. If you let others influence your decisions then you don't have the conviction needed to be one of the better GMs in this league and we don't need you.

This is why all this talk about who's having second thoughts or who's being swayed away from the Fins doesn't bother me. All these people are just doing us the favor of sifting out the weak minded.

I have to agree with this. And I'll add that if any of these candidates are still confused about the alleged "power structure", then they aren't asking the right questions in the interviews, and I don't want a candidate who doesn't do his due diligence as a GM. Who goes on a job interview and comes out confused about what their job is? These guys are supposed to be investigators, yet don't know what their job entails.....yea ok.

Per LaCanfora, who seems to be everyone's latest punching bag.

Does this mean Farmer is actually considering, you know, turning down a second interview? I mean, :bobdole:.

More on this story as it slithers out on someone's filth....

As much as I think the NFL has shafted minorities for upper positions esp general manager why is the alliance the one saying this lol.

The Dolphins should disqualify any candidate who has ties to the pollard mafia... er, foundation.

They are behaving like the IRS, using strong-arm tactics to make us hire who they want.

We should not let some outside set of hacks twist our arm about this hire. Too bad if the NFL doesn't like it either. I hope Ross will stand up to these thugs.

Embarrassing post.

The Fritz Pollard Alliance has no official power. They can't make anyone do anything. John Wooten, who runs it, just happens to be Ray Farmer's mentor, which is why his word holds particular weight in this matter.

And in any case, Wooten has said he strongly advised Farmer to take the second interview. Farmer decided not to.

I mean, Jesus Christ, dude. Get your facts straight first.

You know that it is very unhealthy to insert a political opinion into a football discussion in an attempt to validate your opinion which is based on nothing but fiction.
You really have no proof for your scenario one way or another. On the other hand I have probably 31 other examples in the NFL who have the same or similar structures like the Dolphins. The only difference is that most of them are men. Now if I wanted to I could also throw a political statement in: you are probably only reacting this way towards Aponte because of your old fashion conservative views in which a woman is only good to carry, deliver and raise children and cook and a woman in power is a threat to mankind and family values. But we really don't want to go there otherwise this thread is being moved to the PoFo.

There is no dysfunction in the power structure. As much as you want to believe it to make yourself feel better it is not like that - liberal or not.

it has nothing to do with her being a woman. It has everything to do with she is the storekeeper for the man. She has power unlike most in most football organizations. She is not a football person. That is what dismays people and she was in charge of contracts. It is well known behind the scenes.

Aponte was the one forcing Tannehill to sign his contract with the offset language. She is controlling a lot more than people think. And once again, it has nothing to do with her being a woman, but its that very fact that people point out time and time again.

So Ross is now the bad guy. But Ross had Aponte take her name away from NFL gig. So he made her more powerful than before. So now she will be getting involved with big decisions from here on out.

She is not a football person. She is a lawyer specializing in contracts and is an accountant who has high regard for salary cap decision making. So she basically is in charge of the mans money.

This is what candidates come in knowing. They hear it and they see it from insiders in the media who know and they know because there is enough leakers there to serve their agenda as well.

My thing with Aponte is she clearly has a lot of say in what happens to this organization. You either believe it or you don't, but I have been around the working environment to see what the deal is. And this is well documented in blogs from last season. Aponte was the bad cop in contract negotiations and Ireland had to make the player feel better after being forced into language in the contract. henceforth, Aponte, not Ireland.

and another thing. dawn Aponte came from Cleveland. Does anyone think Farmer may be hearing some things from Cleveland people?

If you were taking on an important position such as this, don't you think you would want to know details of the job? If you staring across the table at the person who may have been talked about is such a way to make that person think bigger in how much control they have or where the're may be conflicts?

I know I would. Some things are worth more than money. Like reputation and long term growth.
