Front 7 Looking SERIOUS

I want to see our DT's first. Timbo is injury prone (can't blame him he is gettin up there in age - for a NFLer), Chester is recovering from ACL (ouch!), and other than moving Carter inside and the rookie 7th rounder, we are pretty thin at DT. LB and DE are promising, but stopping the run still starts at DT...

We never got rid of Zgonina so were still ok at DT.

You're right. It can take close to a year to physically heal from it and usually another season of playing for the player to quit thinking about whether or not it's going to tear again. I can only speculate here, but I would think it would be easier for a DT to get past the mental aspect than it would be for a RB or WR, based on what they do once the ball is snapped.

That would be my guess as well, but it might also be that it's tougher to come back when you're so much bigger.

Timbo may never see the field again for us. Whispers were that his back was no better and he hasn't gotten younger of lighter. IF anyone is gone I think it would be Bowens.

I try to be optomistic too, but I think people are putting to much stock into Roth and Crowder. They've never played a down in the NFL yet. Seau is really old and we've got huge ???'s at DT. To say we will have the best front 7 in the league is crazy.

Never put too much stock in rookies, anything you get from them is gravy.

isnt it about time we got something defensively from a rookie? can someone remind me when was the last time we did?

It seems that teams will NOT be able to run on us anymore, however the loss of Patrick Surtain will impact our Pass Defense, they are going to be able to throw on us.

You should be able to get something from rookies, I just don't think a team should go into a season counting on too much. If a guy can step in at nickle, if Brown can put up some yards, Roth come in at times and make a play or two, it will be great.

I would say Alabi has a better chance of starting at LT than any of the Defensive rookies do.

i agree...im gettin excited about our d-line and backers. i think were gonna ball!!

this is going to be great! remeber our great defense with ogun picking up 15 sacks, taylor 18.5, madison and surtain picking up 1 a piece and zach picking up a couple. that was a great year with great defensive play calling. when they ran, we picked it, when they passed we picked it! shame our offense didnt perform

yeah i dont think crowder or daniels have the size to hold up at LT, and roth is a pure DE...vickerson could give him a run for his money though

here is what is see we have so far....

DE: Taylor, Carter, Holliday, Bowens, Flemons, Walters, (R)Roth, (R)Brown
DT: Chester, Bowens, Zgonina, Romero, Monds, Shaw, (R)Vickerson, (R)***a
LB: Thomas, Seau, Spragan, Moore, Pope, Jenkins, Ayenbadejo, (R)Crowder, (R)Turner, (R)Lewis

who gets cut?
