Gabe Carimi cut by Buccaneers - Miami Dolphins O-Line Fix?

got some run as the extra olineman in some packages but not as athletic as our own guy in that role yeatman was and frankly i think we can do better in the draft...pass

has been a horrid ot when he has gotten run there...more ticketed at guard but not anything to get excited about and with how lazor looks to move the guards i dont see the fit

Wouldn't you think Hickey should have the inside scoop on him. It's up to Hickey on his real value.

Bounced around from the Bears to the Bucs for a 6th rounder.

Was a first round draft pick in 2011. Suffered a terrible knee injury with multiple surgeries his second career game which many believe was a result of the Saint bounty-scandal.

Started at Guard and Right Tackle for the Bears. Only 25 years old.

Not sure why he hasn't worked out. Might be worth a look?

I read he's a Jew. Do we let in jews? Just checking, since we seem to be making lists.. :ponder:

How is it that some of these guys look so good in college to get them drafted early and then get discarded in a year or two? Is the failure in their ability to improve at the next level or is it just poor drafting in the beginning, to not recognize the significant flaws that are there.

well in carimis case he was part of a solid oline in college...one of like 3 nfl prospects...the best of which when they were all together i would contend was peter konz the center...many people thought carimi could play nfl left tackle i was not among them primarily because of his feet...

he was a right tackle who if kicked inside would lack the strength and anchor ability against interior power players...he failed miserably at tackle cause he lost all the time against speed and quickness and started overcommitting etc and getting caught primarily cause of his feet...and then bad habits kicked in and the technique went to crap...was pretty much overmatched

if they bring him to camp as a body fine but that's about the extent of it...there's no way i'd feel good about that starting...at tackle its a downright disaster waiting to happen

anyways he was pretty much maxed out in college and so there's always the concern about a guy not having any more upside and carimi fits that

Depends. A Jew for Jesus? ...or that other kind?

But really, with as many holes as we have on the OLine, I'm all for addressing them every which way we can... free agency, the draft, and even throwing poo against the wall to see what sticks. Sign as many of these guys as we're able and cross our fingers.

The main thing I remember about Carimi is the phrase "round and delicious", which is what Mayock kept calling him the whole draft process. I think Mayock had referred to Carimi as a "meatball" and someone asked Carimi what that meant and Carimi said that must mean he was round and delicious. Mayock would absolutely not stop repeating that. I must have heard it three times from the Senior Bowl to draft day. :bobdole:

Anyway, I don't see what the harm is in bringing him in if he clears waivers. I've gone through the available FA offensive linemen and the reality is we're probably going to need to hit on/get lucky on a minimum contract guy if we want to field even a passable offensive line this year. Better to take a chance on a former first round pedigree guy than a try hard upstart who probably can't hack it no matter what.

Carimi sucks. He reminded me of Marc Colombo when he played in Chicago. Plays like his feet are stuck in cement. No thank you.

We need to stop searching through the trash bin to fix our issues.

Everybody on the OL he played with has been drafted into the NFL; Ricky Wagner, Jon Moffitt, Kevin Zeitler, and Peter Konz. All have had various levels of success/failure, but for college it was a stacked OL.

I see this is your first off season on here so let me help you out. See in the Ireland/Parcells era every Coeboys scrub that got gut generated a we should take a look or a we should sign player X thread. Now we have a former Buc in the FO so stay tuned for the we should sign this guy thread every time Tampa flushes their toilet.
I have been on finheaven for years. we need a place for the NFL's unwanted to be discussed before they retire to coaching HS. I suggest a Sarah McLaughlin banner for this
