Right now, Moore and Devlin are all we got. I don't think this is anything more than a backup position. No chance he competes with Moore for the starting role. Someone else wii come in to compete, whether it is Smith or a QB from the draft.

in all honesty IF, and this is a big IF, he is healthy I don't mind much if we didn't give him a lot of money. I feel he'd be a decent mentor for a young QB.

Not going to lie, I don't understand the hate for this move. Don't get me wrong, I do NOT believe Garrard will lead us to a Superbowl. But you guys are talking as if this is our new franchise QB. He's a veteran QB that has some pretty solid numbers. I doubt the contract was anything to brag about, so at the very least, we have a solid backup that has the potential to be a new starter, while HOPEFULLY planning on drafting a 1st round QB either this year or next to be a REAL franchise QB
