Gibson's Rostor Spot in Jeopardy?

Gibson is by far the better receiver over Matthews. But you never know how someone will rebound after an injury, I suppose. I assumed we'd get Gibson back but maybe that's premature. They'll compete and whoever is ready at the beginning of the season will play. Not much talk about Binns, who is also recovering, I know the team was real excited about him before he got hurt.

That's news to me. His best game other than @ Tampa Bay was 5 catches for 64 yds vs New England. His 2 TDs all year were both in the game @ Tampa Bay.

Not taking anything at all away from Gibson, who played very well. For the year, Gibson caught 30 for a 10.9 avg. a 4.1 YAC avg, and 3 TDs (2 vs Buff). Matthews caught 41 fr a 10.9 avg, a 4.2 YAC avg, and 2 TD's. I thought he was VG in filling in, and we did not lose a lot.

All I'm saying is that Matthew's play should have nothing whatsoever in keeping Gibson, who I really liked from the signing, when some said he could not play the slot. We need both.

I will say that in a draft very deep at wr wouldn't it be a novel idea for the Dolphins to draft a wr. I am tired of not drafting the deep positions in a deep draft. Ireland was kind of known for that.

What a stupid idea. And no I didnt even bother reading the op. The mere existance of this thread is baffling. Gibson was great last year in his first season at a new position

And if hickey even considers this then he is as big a fool as I fear

If true, this is precisely the kind of dumb move I've come to expect from the Dolphins.

The reporters seem to be trying to outdo each other in coming up with B/S ideas. We have heard the speculation that we are trading Dion Jordan and Mike Wallace. We have heard that Richie Incognito will be coming back and we are cutting Wheeler and Ellerbe (both have 2nd year amounts guaranteed). We have heard that we're giving up on Lamar Miller, Matt Moore, etc. These reporters appear to be just speculating. In a way, it indicates that they are not getting their stories direct from the GM.
The only reason to be speculating about cutting Gibson is if he is not making progress towards full health. There are lots of good receivers in the Draft, but he looked very good last year and the team may have enjoyed a lot more success if he hadn't got injured.

I doubt it's true at all. More of the media just being drama queens. No way we're gonna give up on Gibson if he's anywhere near ready to go. He was clutch for us on third down when he was in there.

More than third downs, he was showing a real ability to help us punch the ball in from the red zone before he got hurt.

Yup, that's why I don't expect him to go anywhere. The only possible way he's not here if there's a major setback in his recovery. I dunno where I read it but I saw a few days ago he should be ready to go by training camps.

Gibson proved his worth before the injury last year. He doesn't have a history of I juries so I see a zero percent chance we release him. He developed chemistry with Tannehill last year, so I expect a big year from Gibson this year. Particularly when you consider that we have no reliable solution at TE to move the chains.

Once gibson heals up he is a talented player. It would be foolish to let him go if he is healthy.

I see a random writer speculation has earned responses such as calling Hickey a "fool" and "Dumb Dolphins". Of course there is no sources or indications that he is getting cut, just a sports writer throwing out speculation based on salary and health.

Keep in mind that there were offseason speculations in past years from the local guys that had Hartline and Wake being cut.

My thoughts exactly. In fact I would love for us to move up if need be to get Evans, or Watkins, in a deep draft like this, and to get the best of the best WR in this years draft we would be able to get some TD's and put some points on the board. This would also open the running game as of now nobody is scarred of our current crop of WR's.
