Give Tannehill a year to relearn with Lazor. Drop bad habits from Sherman.

Is it me or does Tanny not look too athletic? I always hear how he was a receiver, athletic etc but he goes down quick and has almost no moves in or out of the pocket. He's durable but that's about it.

He looks underdeveloped being under Sherman's subpar offenses for too long, and it's obvious that he has bad habits.

Firstly, his footwork in the pocket is poor, but his olines have been poor and have contributed to that. He looks like a headcase back there.

This subsequently contributes to his accuracy issues secondly - granted many passes he just flat out flubs even with adequate time / inconsistent accuracy.

Thirdly, having taken so many sacks, hits, at early stages, it affects his willingness to scramble when he could. He was also never encouraged to run under Sherman, thus his scrambling ability is underdeveloped / He's a pocket qb, trying to run the read-option now. That is why we are seeing inconsistency and regressions - he's still in year 3, but relearning how to play qb at a high level.

My case is that with a year under Lazor, hopefully he relearns the position, drops a lot of his habits made with Sherman's systems. If he's half of what Nick Foles was last year under Lazor, it would be a small achievement in progressive development, even if long overdue.

Sorry, but no. Either you have it or you don't. No one gets three years to learn their job. I am sick of excuses, and I am a Tannehill supporter. We fixed everything that was supposedly the problem last year and now the excuse is let him learn his new coach. Last years excuse was Sherman. Maybe, just maybe the coaching isn't the problem.

I will say this like I said in another thread .

As an outsider he Mechanics look just like they did as a rookie needs progression there.

Now with how much he has been beat up over last two years could we be seeing a David Carr syndrome
That's how I'm seeing it as well. He seemed like a headcase today.

But props to the Bills, we could not handle the intensity - in many cases both from a physical and mental standpoint.

Let's just give him 5 more years and see if he pans out... screw it, let's wait till he retires then we can see if he was worth it.

Agrees, well I think it's because this is the first year he's set up with a true option to run. Seeing him take off on one option today seemed like a positive sign, but even then he seemed to take the slide pretty quickly.

You can't teach accuracy.

We need to make him unlearn everything then learn again? Why don't we just pick up some dude off the street. Aside from the size, decent arm, and hot wife I don't know what's special enough about Tannehill to spend all this time molding him from a raw lump of clay. If we going to **** over our whole team developing someone I'd rather they have better accuracy, make quicker reads and better innate pocket awareness.

If we are seeing "David Carr Syndrome", better to just put him out to pasture now. There is nothing to be done for him..

It's not for us to give him 8 games working with actual QB coaching under Lazor. It's for Philbin to do that.

It's up to us to celebrate or to bitch accordingly. I think you'd agree he's given us more to bitch about this week, yeah?

Don't worry OP. You will get your year...but if there isn't improvement...and I mean BIG improvement; expect a QB to be drafted next year. He may even get next year....but after that, his contract ends and he will not be resigned and the new kid will take over. That's how I see this playing out...been watching this **** year after year...

lol, i'd agree and that's fair- he looked erratic today. i'm just not giving up hope on him yet - going to give him a few more games to see if he can bounce back.

I say we give him til bye week; if he sh**s himself vs KC and OAK, move to Matt Moore... and Marcus Mariota next May
