Go get Earl Thomas

Earl Thomas DB, Baltimore Ravens

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Ravens will either release or trade Earl Thomas.

It's a shocking decision given the Ravens will take a $25 million cap hit. This also leaves them with a downgraded secondary, with injury-prone DeShon Elliott looking like the favorite to start. Thomas was sent home from practice after punching teammate Chuck Clark, but he had been wearing on the coaching staff since last season after missing multiple meetings. The Ravens will release him with a conduct detrimental tag to lower his dead money if he isn't traded. They may need more than that to win a grievance, as camp skirmishes happen all the time. The Cowboys — who have been clearing cap space — are the leading candidates to sign Thomas if he's released.

If they're willing to take a 25mill cap hit then that should tell you everything you need to know

I wouldnt trade anything more than like a 7th, but if theres no takers and he gets cut would be a nuce upgrade.

The Ravens have been looking for any possible excuse to cut or trade Thomas since mid-season last year. He struggled to learn the playbook and “went rogue” on the field all the time. I liked him as a player in Seattle, but all signs point to him regressing to a locker room cancer these days.

It has been reported that he is not all that liked in the locker room and isn't there as much as he should be. On top of that, he has been known to freelance a bit to much and appears as though he has lost a step speed wise.

You would be paying for what he was instead of what he currently is, it just isn't worth it for how close our team appears to be getting so quickly.

Come on down!

if it’s a low price tag. If he doesn’t get w/ the program he’ll get the boot no doubt. Just like anyone else would

Fans here dont get this. He would be cheap on a one year deal. LOL. No one wants talent here. It seems 7.45 wins since 2000 is just enough

He's very expensive and probably a bit over the hill (31 years old). Answer two questions - When was the last time Baltimore walked away from a proven top talent to willingly take a $25M Dead Cap hit? Come to think of it, when was the last time Seattle walked away from a 7 time Pro-Bowler? These are 2 very good teams with top experienced coaches and both in Super Bowl contention and in successive years, they have visibly walked away from him. This one has both a flashing red light and a loud warning alarm ringing and I have a hunch that Coach Flo doesn't want any expensive stinking turd in his Defense. Buyer beware!
