Think my point was lost as my example wasn't even true, I think Flores would like to give chances to some of these trouble players like Mark Walton last year, Walton burned him but still I believe he will try again and believe we do have the culture and HC to do it. In no way am I applying this to Earl Thomas the more you look at him the more you think he just killed his career.
But for those giving me guff have a listen to this.........
Appropriate punishment doled out.......
There is a big difference between guys like Walton/Merritt/PWilliams and Thomas/Moss. The first group costs us no capital and can easily be cut at the first sign of trouble. The second are entitled veterans that require other, more stable, vets to keep them in check.
I think we both agree that the right kind of culture is being built here. But that process is not complete until you have tenured veteran leadership on the team.
Right now, ~50% of our starters could be new acquisitions. We might have the youngest team in the league and Fitzpatrick is literally the only player on the roster above 29.
Our leaders of their units, like Van Noy and Flowers, are almost all newcomers. We are on the right track by bringing in high character guys across the board.
But let's not fool ourselves into thinking this team has finished the process of establishing what we're talking about.
Right now our team is almost all developing players that need high quality role models. Those guys will be the leaders of tomorrow that will allow us to take the kinds of risks on players you're talking about.
As far as your punishment...too far man...too far
