Go get Prater right now.

The Phins don't have 3 M$ a year to spend on a kicker. I'd go with Sturgis now. He's been solid enough 1/4 of the season. Yeah, his touchbacks aren't up to snuff right now but teams are dying to test our coverage lately, no matter how deep KOs have been.
 
I would. I cannot stand Sturgis' KO's and lack of consistency.
 
Eh, you know what, didn't Dan Carpenter drop off about the time that Darren Rizzi took over as special teams coordinator?

Maybe there's a trend here.

The fantasy football gods are odd ducks. My money league features AP as my franchise back, and I had Prater stashed away as the 1st kicker I drafted (waiting for his susp. to end)

absolutely go get prater...teams wouldn't be able to return kicks on us if we did...absolutely...would much rather have him than sturgis
 
I know he got in trouble for binge-drinking. Wonder what else has happened?
 
If he gets suspended isn't he gone for life or an entire season? If he gets into trouble over there it would be a matter of weeks before he'd get into trouble again in Miami.
 
We won't sign him. I'm sure we'll continue to roll with Sturgis, all the way until he misses a huge kick(s) that costs a huge game(s).

So what. If he ****s up again and gets the boot sign another kicker then. They're a dime a dozen.

Cap space is an issue though. I think it would be a waste of money to sign a dude like him for 3 mil a year. If he came at a discounted price sure, but, with his stats I doubt his agent would accept a deal for much less than that.
 
Not that I think we need to sign Prater, but I thought that we had a pretty good chunk of cap space left since we decided to go cheap on our free agent signings (Especially OL - Outside of Albert.)?
 
Sorry, I disagree with the premise that we should go out and get Prater. For all his talent, that I don't dispute, he obviously has a massive alcohol problem to receive such a big suspension and then to be cut by the Broncos.
Last year with the Martin/Incognito issue and subsequent investigation, we found that we had some big issues in the lockerroom (including recreational drugs) and we needed to clean it up. Hickey and Philbin have consciously gone out and recruited some high character guys on the team with the intention of cleaning things up. Sturgis is stil a decent kicker and we haven't seen him play to his full potential.
I am strongly opposed to rushing out and replacing Sturgis with Prater. Denver know what they are doing. Hot garbage... Do not touch.
